Well, here where I live, Spring is sprung–weeks early, even. Our lilac bush looks like it will have flowers by this time next week instead of in the middle of May as usual. The dogwood trees, the magnolia trees–all the flowering trees are flowering. The daffodils and crocuses are, if anything, starting to fade. It may only be April 24th but it is very definitely Spring and, allergies notwithstanding, I’m happy to welcome the change of season. What I want to know, is:
Do your reading habits change in the Spring? Do you read gardening books? Even if you don’t have a garden? More light fiction than during the Winter? Less? Travel books? Light paperbacks you can stick in a knapsack?
Or do you pretty much read the same kinds of things in the Spring as you do the rest of the year?
This week's question is pretty easy for me. Why? Because I'm living in a tropical country and our weather is like, having summer all year round. Our weather is at its hottest towards middle of the year, and more shower storms expected around October onwards (the monsoon season). For the past few weeks, the weather has been pretty unpredictable because it could be sunny in the morning and rainy in the afternoon.
Anyway, the weather has nothing to do with my reading preference but rather it's my mood that will dictate what I shall read next.

Summer all year round sounds great! Apart from the monsoons... It's the beginning of winter where I live. I don't think the season affects what I read, but the weather does affect my mood so I guess it might have an indirect influence.
I think mood is important, and also how you have reacted to the last read. Do you need something different or more of the same.
Summer all year round isn't so good if you're experiencing 35 to 40 degrees C temperatures. That's reeeeally hot *fans self*

Weather doesn't really affect what I read, but it does affect where I read. Nothing like curling up on the couch all wrapped in a fuzzy blanket during a snowstorm, but on a hot summer day, there's no place I'd rather be than lying on a blanket in the backyard with a good book!
Same here. I read a book and choose the next depending on my mood at the time.

Seaons or weather doesn't affect my reading either. Here it always hot but in the past few months it have bee cold. Now thanks goodness the weather is beginning to feel hot now...

I'm with you Melody - I tend to read mostly the same type of books all year long, and my mood dictates what I read more than the weather does. I don't live in a tropical place, but sometimes it feels like it! We get very mild winters here, and hot summers. We were already at 86 degrees F yesterday!

Yeah, my reading is influenced more by my mod than the weather, but then again, the weather does influence my mood sometimes.
I'll tell you something. After living in Illinois my whole life, I could do with some tropical weather year-round!! I HATE the cold....and Spring is fleeting for the moment. I'm feeling the onset of a major cold. It always happens when the weather changes so rapidly. Last weekend: 75. This weekend: 50.
I'm not much of a seasonal reader either. I generally tend to read whatever I want...whenever!

I'm definitely a mood reader too so the seasons don't have much to do with my reading. Although I probably feel more compelled to read a classic story in the Fall. Weird, I guess it's just a reminder of school or something! :)

I have lived in the tropics in the past, and although I loved most of it, I found that I really missed the changing seasons. Although Britain tends to be cloudy and rainy for most of the year, interspersed with sunny days and the odd snowfall, I find that I need these changes to feel the year pass by. Perhaps its because I grew up adoring the autumn, watching the leaves turning. I would never have associated this love of seasons with my reading until this meme though. But thinking about it, I do love those cold rainy or snowy days when I can curl up with a blanket, hot chocolate and a really chunky book!
Mariel, I wish we have four seasons here!!! It gets real boring after getting the same weather all year round, LOL. If I'd to choose, I'll choose autumn being my favourite season because the weather is cool and it's wonderful to see those leaves change colour. It's a beautiful sight!
I never stopped to think about whether my reading would be influenced if I lived somewhere without extreme weather changes. (I live in the "temperate" zone, which is rarely "temperate!)
