Teaser Tuesdays

(This is a scheduled post.)

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!

My teaser sentences for today [Fallen Skies by Philippa Gregory (Pg 3)]:

She glanced up at him from under her eyelashes. Stephen felt desire like hunger. She was hardly a woman yet, she was still a girl with skin like cream and hair like honey.

"Valance is my stage name," she said. Her voice was clear, her speech elocution-pure. "My real name is Lily Pears."

Gregory has such a way with words doesn't she? "skin like cream", "hair like honey".

  8. "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle - A Year of Food Life" by Barbara Kingsolver.

"It isn't that we walk out into the field on June 10 and say, "Wow nothing to do anymore." There will always be more weeds. Everything could be mulched better, fed more compost, protected better against groundhogs. A thriving field of vegetables is as needy as a child, and similarly, the custodian's job isn't done till the goods have matured and moved out."

  9. I haven't heard of this one, but it definitely looks a lot different from her other period pieces! What is the time setting?

  10. Louise Says:

I have never read anything by Philippa Gregory, but has her Other Boleyn Girl on one of my challenge lists and look forward to read it. She gets rave reviews all over and even friends who doesn't read much have read her and loved her. So I am really looking forward to that book.

  11. Melody Says:

    Hi, everyone!

The setting is post-World War I England and it's a story about the marriage of a wealthy war hero and an aspiring singer he barely knows. I enjoy reading this book so far and I can't to finish it! :)
