I love all covers, no matter if they are in hardcover, tradesize or paperback (although I have to admit hardcovers are more expensive and difficult to store as compared to other sizes). I buy paperbacks all the time, and hardcovers are limited to my favourite authors (or certain titles I can not wait for the paperback version to release which usually takes about a year!).
Besides fictions, I also buy mangas, picture and children books. In other words, I devour them as long as their premises hooked me! I do not really mind about the editions though, as long as nothing is cropped from the original version!
It always excites me to have my books signed by authors. But since I always get books from the bookstores, plus chances of authors having a booksigning event here is near to nil, most of my copies do not bear their signatures except for a few reviewer copies sent by the authors or their publicists.
How about you?
I guess I've brought all sizes of books. No matter if it hardcovers, paperback or trade size paperback. But yes, I also have my limit too where I have to wait for the paperback to be released instead of buying the hardcover. I'm always excited when authors signed my copy of the books. I hope that someday, you'll be able to met your favorite authors and experience the excitment like I did.
Like you, I too like all kinds of books. Content matters for me!
Julia - It's always my dream to be able to meet my favourite authors! I'm still hoping it'll come true one day soon, hehe.
Gautami - Yes, content is what most important to me too.
I am more of a paperback fan, not only are they cheaper but easier to lug about when your travelling.
I'm like you.I only buy hardbacks if I really can't wait for the paperback, or the library doesn't have it!
Hardbacks are pretty much the last of my options too, mainly due to the cost. True, it's also alot easier to carry a paperback around!
Here's mine. Happy BTT!
I will rarely buy a hardcover...I save those for libary rentals! Past that, it really makes no difference if it is a book I want to read. I have a couple of books signed by authors, but were gifts...it is not necessarily something I track down.
Well, it's got to be one thing or the other: a mixture of hardbacks and paperbacks is disastrous.
I go for paperbacks becuse they are cheaper and lighter to carry around.
So, I'm intrigued - which authors have signed copies of their books for you?
As, i tend to live in odd parts of the world, like Mongolia and Yemen, I don't get to many booksignings myself.
I avoid buying hardcovers, as you said expensive and take up a lot of space. I am not too crazy about signed editions. May eb if i had one signed by Nora Roberts, it would be a different matter altogether. But generally I am okay with anything.
Our answers are so similar! I'm not as taken with having books signed as others are, however.
Great answer, Melody!
Anything goes for me but I do have a preference for paperbacks because they're easier to carry around. :)
I am pretty much the same way -- I get what I like to read, no matter the format.
Hi!
I like all kinds of books. Paperback or hardback. It really doesn't matter to me. Have a great day!!
Sherrie
Same here.. paperbacks and hardcovers are both okay with me. I also collect picture books. :)
My favorites I buy in hardcover to keep. Otherwise I stick to the trade paperbacks. The mass paperbacks have writing that I just can't read anymore.
I'm not too particular about editions, but signed books I just love :D
I've never owned any signed books, so I can't tell if I'd treasure them or not! I have all sizes and formats of books in my collection- but I am phasing out the mass market paperbacks. They just fall apart too easy.
I have one signed book and it was a gift. I ended up loving the book and the author, though, so I'm glad I have it. Still, I don't see myself getting any other signed books in the future. Most of my books come from the internet due to convenience, just as most of my books are paperback due to the convenient weight and cost.
Simon, Kat - Indeed. I also read during the commute so it's best to carry a paperback than a bulky hardcover.
Jo - I just wish hardcovers are cheaper!
Sandy - I really appreciate authors who send books to me. It's always exciting to receive books from them, isn't it?
Ian - I've received signed copies from Lori Foster, Janelle Denison, Marsha Altman & Laura Pedersen so far.
Violet, Beth - Whether or not if they are signed is not important, most important is we must enjoy the books! :)
Alice - Thanks! I'm a fan of paperbacks too, hehe.
Barbara - Indeed. It's all about the contents.
Sherrie - Yes, give me a book anytime, no matter whatever formats it is. ;)
Claire - I'm always fascinated with picture books, they always have pretty illustrations!
Dar - I love hardcovers, because of their size the covers always seem to stand out from the rest.
Nymeth - I'm thrilled if I've the chance to get signed copies, otherwise it's also fine with me too.
Jeane - Yes, paperbacks do fall apart easily, and we've to be more careful when handling them.
Anonymous Child - Attending to booksigning events is another great way of getting your books signed! Since we hardly have authors coming here, so it makes me appreciate those signed copies more!
I love all covers too. I think all my books are collectible, even the second handed ones. Of course I do have some that are worth a bit more and some that I care more about that others so those are my most treasured ones.
I like hardcovers too and limit them to my favorite authors, or booksales.
Books signed by authors are great!
I have Dean Koontz personal signature and will show it to anyone who is willing to look. lol

Books. Period. :) I prefer paperback for reading but hardcover for looks. Reading usually wins out, though.
Jen - Yeah, it sure is tough to choose any covers we loved the best. After all, they're all books and they're our passion! ;)
Naida - That's cool that you've Dean Koontz's signatures! I enjoy reading his books so it'd be great if I've one of my books signed by him too!
Trish - I'm with you there!!
