I wish I could take a picture of my unread books but I couldn't simply because there are way too many of them! I am sure most of you have this issue, right? How many times we tell ourselves not to buy or walk into any bookstores but in the end, we just can't resist that temptation and most of the times, we ended up with a few books to carry home! And there goes the TBR pile keeps getting higher and higher! An idea I got from The Toddled Dredge (via K for Kat). Here’s what she said:
“So here today I present to you an Unread Books Challenge. Give me the list or take a picture of all the books you have stacked on your bedside table, hidden under the bed or standing in your shelf – the books you have not read, but keep meaning to. The books that begin to weigh on your mind. The books that make you cover your ears in conversation and say, ‘No! Don’t give me another book to read! I can’t finish the ones I have!’ “
Honestly, I can't keep a list because my mood always changes. Today, I will tell you I might want to read Vision of White by Nora Roberts but tomorrow, I might pick something else or a different genre instead. Nonetheless, here are just a few titles that I wanted to read but just never got around to:
- Bitten and Stolen by Kelley Armstrong (These are part of her Otherworld series)
- Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
- The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins
- Paper Towns by John Green
- Fingersmith by Sarah Waters
- River Secrets by Shannon Hale
- Emma by Jane Austen
- Broken for You by Stephanie Kallos
- The remaining books of Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling (I had read Book 1-3)
- Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
- The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
- A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
Well, I could go on and on but I think the above will do at this moment. Try asking me the same question tomorrow and I will give you another set of titles, hehe.
What about you? Any books that you want to read badly but have not done so?
I have far too many unread books too. I've read some of yours -
Wuthering Heights,The Woman in White, Emma, The Blind Assassin - all great books - oh and the HP ones too.
For my post I did list the ones in the bedroom and added a photo of one pile on a bookcase for good measure.
A Thousand Splendid Suns is absolutely fantastic. I'm very moody while reading books too. I might think I'll read a book next and then I'll end up reading a completely different one. Emma is in my TBR too.
I have Fingersmith and Emma in my neverending TBR pile! The Blind Assassin is a great read but give it a fair amount of time to grip you!
I really enjoyed The Blind Assassin and Emma.
I've found Wuthering Heights on another TBR list today, which I find greatly reassuring. I thought I was the only person who hadn't read it yet. :-)
I enjoyed Emma. I have 1000 Splendid Suns on my "someday" list too.
The overachiever in me almost gets stressed at the thought of all those wonderful books that I really really want to read. It makes me want to just stop getting any new books, stop joining challenges, and not come up for air until I get to them all! I did get to Wuthering Heights, and I loved A Thousand Spendid Suns. Also, one of my goals is to read everything by Ms. Austen. Sigh.
You gotta read Wuthering Heights!
Here is my BTT post!
Hehe, I'm in the same books. I have over 50 unread books and that list just never seems to shrink. (It doesn't help that people keep lending me *their* books and if I put it off for a week, they always have that expectant look on their face when I see them next that says, 'Well, how are you enjoying me book?' Ugh. ;-) )
BTW, The Woman in White is a must read. I love that book :-D
Oh! I wish I could read Emma for the first time. Enjoy!
You need to read 4 and 5 in particular. Just saying :P
Hi!
I have A Thousand Splendid Suns on my TBR list. Hope to get it read this year. Heard it's really good. Have a great day!

There's no way I could take a picture of my TBR books either - I've got shelves! :)
Some of the titles on your list are books that are on my list too. I really want to read Fingersmith and The Woman in White. Maybe this summer I'll get to a Collins book.
I think I would love to have your whole stack because you've got some very good reads. I haven't read Emma and I've got Woman in White waiting. I set it aside for vacation because it's just so engaging.
Shall I venture into Khaled Hosseini? Despite all the hype, he's actually not too bad.
Oh by the way, I've got Sing Them Home by Stephanie Kallos.
A Thousand Splendid Suns is on my list too, Melody! I'm still contemplating whether or not to participate this week because my list is waaaaay too long. LOL
I ditto with you about the mood change. I might say I'm gonna read this book but than the next day I pick something else. We both crazy I guess *LOL*
You've interesting list, Melody! Lot of them I either not heard of before or have heard of before but just never read these books. I'm way behind on Harry Potter's books too. I stopped at book #4
Have a good rest of Thursday(Friday)/weekend!
Margaret - You've my curiosity piqued! I'll have to visit your blog to view at your pics. Thanks!
Violet - Glad to hear we're alike in this case, hehe.
Savidgereads - I should've started reading The Blind Assassin but I guess I'm intimidated by the thick volume, hehe.
Susan - I'm relieved to hear I'm not the last person to read Wuthering Heights, hehe.
Janet - I find Emma is another favourite reads by Jane Austen!
Sandy - I get what you mean about all those unread books, Sandy! I wish I could go on a book ban but you know how things goes... LOL.
Gautami - I look forward to reading Wuthering Heights thought I've no idea when!
Lady Lazarus - I'm glad to hear you enjoyed reading The Woman in White, that's the top of my priority reads... gosh, I've so many of them, LOL.
Amy - Thanks!
Nymeth - Yep, I know! :D
Sherrie - I enjoyed The Kite Runner and I'm A Thousand Splendid Suns will not disappoint since I've heard nothing but raves about it.
Iliana - I need more shelves!!! But then I'll have to make space for them, LOL.
Matt - Ooh, I didn't know Stephanie Kallos has a new book out! I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up! :)
Alice - I'd love to see what books you've on your list, Alice! :D
Julia - Or perhaps we're fickle-minded, haha. With the upcoming HP's movie, I'm hoping to catch up on the remining titles but I'm not sure when I'd get to it though.
Like yours, my list is just too long to even know where to start!
I want to read Wuthering Heights, Emma, and Blind Assassin as well.
Good luck with the Harry Potters. I thought the third one was the best, followed by the fourth. Didn't enjoy the last three in the series that much.
And yep, I know what you mean about not being able to keep a list as your mood always changes... which is why my list could probably wrap around the world three times now.
Wuthering Heights is fabulous.
And I love the HP series.
I really need to read The Goose Girl, Cold Mountain and The Time Travlers Wife...among many others :)

Lenore - Yes, it's a never-ending cycle! :P
Cookiecrumbles - Ditto about those mood change, LOL.
Naida - I'm adding The Time Traveller's Wife to my wishlist after hearing so many raves about it!
My husband suggested I take a photo of our house and post a caption saying that in order to fit all my unread books into on picture, this was the best I could do. :-)
I actually do have a list (on LibraryThing) of all the unread books in my house. It would be much too long of a blog post, however, if I attempted to post them all there.
Wendy - LOL. Counting those unread books is a challenge, isn't it? :P
