Do you prefer reading current books? Or older ones? Or outright old ones? (As in, yes, there’s a difference between a book from 10 years ago and, say, Charles Dickens or Plato.)

I don't have any preference when it comes to my reading, and it all has to depend on my mood. To me, what most important is not which year the book is published but more of the content and whether or not does the story suck me in.

What about you? Do you prefer current books or older ones?

I've always said mood play a big part in chosen books to read. It still is. However more often I find myself going back to re-read the older ones because I come to realized that re-reading old favorite books is comfort read for me. But it always nice to start reading current books to keep up with upcoming new series books ;)

My answer is much the same. I like both.

Good answer, how true! I don't mind what era the novel is from, as long as I feel a connection to at least one of the characters.

  4. Ahh, what a good answer! I almost feel like amending mine....but I won't!

I feel the same as you, though it appears I read more newer books than older ones. Still, the age of the story doesn't matter to me at all; I read whatever I'm in the mood to read.

  6. I like a good mix of books but lately I've been reading a lot of classics and listening to YA. Published date doesn't really matter to me but I stopped accepting/seeking advanced copies of books to be published because they were so hit and miss for me.

I tend to drift towards the newer ones, but force myself to read classics, which I almost always love.

I like to read both new and old books.

  9. I also read by my mood sometimes, the year of the book does not matter but I seem to always be drawn into best sellers.

No preference for me either. Although I do know when I read a lot of more current books I sort of get sad about all my shelf sitters that have been waiting for me for YEARS! :)

  11. Darlene Says:

I like to read both. Depends on whether or not the storyline attracts me.

I grew up on the classics, but I love newer stuff as well. I agree that mood has a big influence over what I read.

  13. The Bookworm Says:

It depends on my mood also. But I always love reading a good classic.
