Would you say that you read about the same amount now as when you were younger? More? Less? Why?

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

I would say I have definitely read more books as compared to when I was younger. During my school days, I relied a lot on the school library, and even if I could afford to rent a book at a used bookstore, I could only allow myself to borrow one, or at most two books because I was not given too much allowances (as long as it kept my stomach full).

And now that schooling is out of my league and I have a full-time job, money is not much of an issue as compared to during my school days! (Although I do tell myself not to overspend on books but sometimes it is hard not to do so.) And then there are always some good recommendations from my fellow book-bloggie friends, not to mention those addicting reading challenges that prompt me to read even more.

  1. Hi, Melody! I really don't know if I read more or less when I was younger. I only started keeping track four years ago and so far my totals at the end of the year has so many ups and down, there's no pattern. I certainly have a much larger TBR collection than I did back then--thanks in part to you and other bloggers. :-)

Hi Wendy! I didn't even keep track of the books I read until I started my blog, hehe. And it's always a joy to me to see my TBR pile is piling up! :D

Hey Melody, the reading challenges are really good for pushing you to read more. I have overspent on books so much over the last few years that for the next couple I am going to limit my buying and try to tackle my TBR room!

My reading as a child was like yours: divided between school assignments and the library. Now that I'm older I am reading mostly a combination of books I bought used when I was a teen but didn't have time to read and books I've gotten through BookCrossing. I am also trying to add new books into the mix because I feel like I'm missing out on so many of the recently published books.

    Happy BTT.

  5. The reading challenges are my doom. I can't seem to cope up!

Buying is no problem. Reading is..

Same here, Melody! I'm trying hard not to overspend on books BUT it's SOOOO hard. LOL. I've just bought some more books...

  7. Melody I completely agree about the amount of new books found through the blogs, and don't even mention the challenges!

Hi Rhinoa! I agree with you about those reading challenges, they are soooo addictive! I think I have overspent on books too, but I try not to think about it too much, LOL!

Hi Pussreboots! I'm with you on your last sentence. There are so many books out there...I wish I have all the time to 'devour' them!!! ;)

Hi Gautami! I'm with you on this! LOL.

Hey Alice! YAY about buying more books! I can tell that your pile is piling up nicely, hehe.

Hi A.Book.In.The.Life! Reading is my passion, so the more books the merrier! (same as reading challenges, hehe.)
