This week’s Weekly Geeks theme is to talk about the magazines we read. In order to get started, Dewey prepared a little magazines meme, but feel free to take it further if you want. It’d be great if you displayed images of the covers of your favorite magazines.

For each magazine you want to talk about, here are a few questions. Answer as many or as few as you want.

1. Name of magazine.
2. Do you subscribe or just buy it now and then?
3. What’s your favorite regular feature in the magazine?
4. What do you think your interest in this magazine says about you?
5. How long have you been reading this magazine?
6. Is there any unique or quirky aspect to the magazine that keeps you reading?

I love RT Book Reviews magazine. Being a romance, romance suspense and mysteries fan, this magazine is very informative to me as it features the upcoming releases and the books ratings as well. I started the subscription four months ago, since I could not find them any in our local bookstores! I had received my third issue and am enjoying every issue so far.

I read all features in the magazine, but my favourite have to be: Cover story, Featured Book Review, a sneak peak at future books, Authors Spotlights and News, the Reader Columns, Discover New Authors, Writing tips and many others. Aside from these, the subscribers get to access to their online bonus content after they have registered with the 7 digit account number found on the mailing label.

Although I enjoy reading this magazine, I am also thinking of subscribing to Bookmarks magazine as I have seen many fellow bookbloggers subscribing to this too. If you are a reader of this magazine, can you tell me why you like it?

Other magazines I read:

Cleo (Australia)

Young Parents (Singapore)

Mina (Taiwan)

Oh Melody, I followed your link to Bookmarks Magazine and I doubt that it was my most clever move... So many reviews and ideas!!! :-)

  2. Julia Says:

I never subscribe to all those magazine you listed. But I heard lot about the RT Book Rviews from other friends/readers/reviewers.

The only magazine I subscribed to is Creating Keepsakes. It a scrapbook magazine. I used to subscribed to YM(when I was younger), Cosmo and Vogue.

I need to participate in this Weekly Geek - I read a lot of magazines!

Every once in a while I check out RT... I don't read romance but they have mystery book reviews!

I do subscribe to Bookmarks... I like it although reading so many book blogs I kind of feel like I'm reading old news. By the time I get the magazine a lot of the books they mention have already been reviewed by book bloggers. Still, I feel like I need to support a magazine that is all about books! :)

Joanna - I'm glad you clicked onto that link! :) I love visiting there and I'm thinking of subscribing their magazines one day!

Julia - RT Book Reviews magazines covers a lot of romance & romance suspense books so I'm sure you'll enjoy reading this. :) I read Teen, YM & Cosmo when I was a teenager too! Ahh...those were the days!

Iliana - I'm hoping you'll participate in this week's WG as I'd like to know what magazines you're reading. :) And I'm with you about supporting a magazine that is all about books! ;)

Some great magazine choices! I love having some quick reading on hand. I need to get some more magazines, actually, my supply is running low.

  6. Melody Says:

Thanks, Kim! I'm always looking out for more interesting magazines! :) I'm glad Dewey came up with this theme this week.

  7. Alice Says:

I subscribe to Fit Yoga and Yoga Journal plus a couple of other mostly US mags not available in Malaysia. I almost subscribed to Bookmarks but the cost deterred me.

  8. Melody Says:

I agree the subscription fees can be quite expensive to international subscribers. It took me a while before I succumbed to the temptation of subscribing to RT Book Reviews magazine though.

  9. I have heard good things about TR Book Reviews. I tend not to read much in the way of romance and so I've shied away from it myself.

I do subscribe to Bookmarks and it's a great magazine if you want to keep up to date on the latest books. Like Iliana said though, sometimes it is like reading old news because it's appeared on blogs already. I enjoy the feature articles and little reviews.

  10. Kim Says:

My whole weekly geeks post is dedicted to Bookmarks. I LOVE that magazine.

Wendy - I know most book bloggers subscribed to Bookmarks magazine so I might consider subscribing to it. We shall see... ;)

Kim - Thanks for visiting! Glad to hear from another Bookmarks magazine fan! :D
