Musing Mondays

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about books on your wishlist…

Last week we talked about keeping a wishlist. Why not pull out that list and show us some of the books you’ve been eyeing off?

When I told my non-bookish friends that I have a long wishlist to keep, their very first comment was: "But I thought you've a lot of books which you haven't read?" I know I should hang my head in shame at that remark, after all they are right and I shouldn't be buying more books or even keeping a wishlist knowing that the books in my TBR will probably last me for years, but how could you turn away from any good books, especially when you know you trust your friends' recommendations and that you all share the same reading taste?

Anyway, here are just some of the books that make the priority list (not in any order):

What are yours?

Mailbox Monday is hosted by Marcia from The Printed Page.

I received the following books last week:

1) The Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham (via BookMooch)

And the following books bought from The Book Depository:

2) I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith

3) The Turn of the Screw by Henry James

4) I'm Looking Through You: Growing Up Haunted by Jennifer Finney Boylan

5) Ruined by Paula Morris

So what books came into your house last week?

    Great books, Melody!

The Woman in Black is high on my list too.

  2. LOL! I get the same thing from friends. I've finally stopped talking about new book acquisitions and wishlists as they all roll their eyes knowing I have hundreds of unread books at home.

Yes yes--you need to read Maus and Persepolis! Both fabulous books in their own way.

  3. Heidenkind Says:

I don't keep a proper list. It would be insanely long and stress me the heck out. I do want to read Hush, Hush, though. I ordered it at my library. :)

  4. Ladytink_534 Says:

Oh The Woman in Black is incredibly creepy! Hope you enjoy it when you get to it.

I finally plan on doing Mailbox Monday not this week but the following one. :)

  5. Melody Says:

Alice - Maybe we should read that book together once we have it, LOL.

Trish - That's why I rarely talk about books to my non-bookish friends nowadays, and that includes my husband, LOL!

Tasha - I've heard a few good reviews on Hush, Hush and I hope it will not disappoint.

Jen - I can't wait to see your Mailbox Monday post! :)

  6. Dot Says:

I Capture The Castle is one of my favourite books! Hope that you enjoy it, the film is really good too!

  8. Jennifer Says:

Great list! Mine is here: http://rundpinne.blogspot.com/2009/10/what-are-you-reading-monday.html

  9. Debi Says:

No, no, no! You must not hang your head in shame! Personally, I think having a wish list is a very healthy thing. I mean, you could just immediately go order every book that strikes your fancy instead, right? So keeping a wish list shows a level of responsibility and maturity.
Okay, are you buying any of this? I'm hoping so, because it's what I'm always telling myself. :D

  10. kayerj Says:

I'm always amazed at the fact that no matter how many blogs I visit everybody has different books. That's why my wish list keeps growing. If you want to wander down my road I’m home.

  11. caite Says:

Well anyone asks me that qs, I would just say... then u should STOP buying clothes...because u liked them...coz you have enough already ;) right?! :D :D

    welll... i STILL BUY!

    Awesome pile Melody!

  17. Violet Says:

A few of these books on my wishlist too. You're right, people who don't read as much as we do, would never understand the concept of a wishlist :)

  18. Serena Says:

I'm jealous of your copy of Ruined!

  19. Care Says:

I absolutely LOVE the variety of books you read. applause@

  20. twiga92 Says:

I don't think it matters how many books we own that we still have to read. There's always going to be more books out there that we want to read and add to our pile. Sigh! I don't think non-readers get it.

  21. Melody Says:

Dot - I didn't know there's a film on it! I'll have to check it out!!

Margaret - We can't do without our wishlist, LOL. Happy reading!

    Jennifer - Thanks! :)

Debi - Thanks so much! I'm definitely feeling much better after reading your reply! :D Yes, I'll definitely buy them all, it's just a matter of time. :P

Kaye - Bookblogs have definitely widen my reading horizon! :)

Caite - I can relate, LOL.

Naida - I've heard so many good things about The Complete Persepolis so I know I won't go wrong buying it! :)

Stacy - I'm glad to hear you've added that book to your wishlist!

Judy - Bookbloggers are the best, aren't we, because we keep helping one another out by suggesting more titles! :P

Julia - I can't wait to read The Painted Veil!

Veens - I've to laugh after reading your response. So true! :P

Violet - Yes, perhaps that's why I'm starting to talk less about books with non-bookish friends. ;)

Serena - Don't be jealous, Serena. Buy it and read it! ;)

    Care - I love variety!

    Twiga - Exactly! ;)

  22. My wish list isn't as long as it should be because I'm not very good at keeping myself from buying the books I want. I'm so bad. I'm trying to be better now though since I don't have as much money to spend on books anymore.

Looks like your mailbox was kind to you this past week, Melody. I'll be curious to read what you think of The Turn of the Screw. I read that many years ago for school.

  23. Melody Says:

Wendy - I totally understand, Wendy! It's so hard not buying books, huh? ;)
