This is my first Sarah Waters book, and I am enjoying reading it! I cannot wait to read the rest of her books, especially Fingersmith and The Little Stranger, in which I have heard nothing but raves about them.
How would it be, I thought, to surrender my family, my home, all my oyster-girl's ways?
And how would it be to live at Kitty's side, brim-full of a love so quick, and yet so secret, it made me shake?

I'm glad you're enjoying it! Tipping the Velvet is a good first Sarah Waters read, but Fingersmith is better yet, and I really love The Night Watch too.

I am crazy for Sarah Waters. I've read Fingersmith, The Little Stranger and Night Watch. I'd say before the year is out, I will have read everything she has written. She is that good.

I read The Night Watch and loved it, this book is next on my list for Sarah Waters. :)
I've heard all of the same raves and brought home The Little Stranger on audio. My hubby listened to it first and really didn't like it (thought I'd help lower your expectations a bit). SO, I plan on starting with Fingersmith!
