Musing Mondays

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about your tbr pile…

How many books (roughly) are in your tbr pile? Is this in increasing number or does it stay stable? Do you ever experience tbr anxiety in the face of this pile? (question courtesy of Wendy)

This week's question sounds like an easy one but unfortunately I am stumped with having an answer. Why is it so? Because honestly I have no idea how many books I have in my TBR pile. A few years back, I would have came up with an absolute answer but as I keep on buying and adding books, I have just simply lost count and gave up on counting them. And I am sure many of you readers have the same experience as I am, right?! How many times have you read a book review/recommendation and have it added onto your wishlist? This happens to me for too many times so it goes without saying that my TBR pile is always in a increasing number and it rarely stays stable.

There are times I do feel anxious about not reading them all, but often it is the choosing of what book to read next that is always on my mind.

What about you? Do you count your TBR books and how do you feel about them?

I want to thank Wanda from A Season to Read for passing on the Heartfelt Award to me! (I am passing this back to you, Wanda!)

To answear your question *raise my hand* I'm one of them, who read book reviews/recommendation and adding it to my TBR pile. It is increasing every weekend, didn't you notice? *grin*. But once it's in my TBR pile, I have to leave it to my moods to tell me which books to read next :) So you won't see me reading the newest books, right away sometime.

I'm flatter that I can make you feel comfy and warm inside. Thanks so much for the award! I think I felt the same way, so am passing the award back to you too *grin*..and yes, I will eventually post it to my blog *LOL*

Congrats on your awards Melody :)

And yes, I agree with you on the TBR. Lately I fell as if I am adding more and not reading at the same speed. So it's mostly a very bad ratio.

  3. Melody Says:

Julia - I notice you've been buying books on almost every weekends, LOL. Like you, my choice of reading depends a lot on my mood. ;)

Thanks so much for being a great friend to me! :)

Violet - Thank you, Violet! :)

Adding and buying books are much easier for me than reading them because I'm such a slow reader, LOL.

  4. I stopped buying sometime back. Yet it still gets increasing. What to do?!

    My musings

  5. Sandy Nawrot Says:

I've stopped buying books, because I know that my husband is buying me a Kindle for Mother's Day (I'm SOOOO excited!). Still, I win books, and I have so many that I've purchased and not gotten to. Also, doesn't my TBR list count too? It expands and grows when I'm not looking. It is a live entity! No way to count!

  6. Sandy Nawrot Says:

And also, thank you for the award! You are so sweet!

  7. Debi Says:

First of all, thank you so much, Melody! And oh my, how you deserved these awards...visiting your blog is always such a treat. Warm and comfy are the perfect descriptions. Oh, and add "happy" to that list, too! :D

And I'm with you on the TBR pile thing...I just can't keep count anymore! My TBR pile has been out of control for many, many years, and blogging has definitely made it worse! Or better, depending on how you look at it. ;)

  8. caite Says:

adding them to a wish list is not my problem...actually buying them is the problem! a wish list takes up very little space. The same can not be said for actual books...lol

  9. Alice Says:

Thanks for the award, Melody! I really appreciate it and makes my Monday special. :D

Do enjoy all your books! Reading pleasure, don't make it a pressure... LOL!

  10. Beth F Says:

    Congrats on your great awards

  11. Ana S. Says:

Awww, thank you so much, Melody! And you definitely deserve the awards yourself :)

    Diego is indeed adorable!

I do know the exact number of books on my tbr pile thanks to librarything, and the number does make me anxious sometimes. Ah well...at least it's still under 100 :P

  12. Darlene Says:

Uggggh, I don't count my tbr books and don't intend to. I feel overwhelmed by the amount of them anyway. lol. Congrats on your awards Melody. Isn't Diego the cutest?

  13. Matt Says:

I'm very surprised that people feel anxious about the towering TBR pile. I'm the opposite, I'm anxious about running out of stuffs to read! :)

  14. Iliana Says:

I sort of have an idea of how many books are in my TBR Shelves (yes, shelves) but I'm so embarrassed to mention the number as I keep buying more books to add to those shelves! :)

Congrats on the awards Melody and thank you so much for sharing the blog love!

  15. Melody Says:

Gautami - I don't think I'll ever stop buying books. The temptation of buying them is simply too great, LOL.

Sandy - A Kindle as a gift! How exciting and that's so sweet of your husband! Winning books and getting ARCs is definitely a bonus to me and I always welcome them, hehe.

Debi - Awww...thank you for your kind words! You're making me blush! ;) I think the same way about you and your blog too! :)

Blogging has definitely makes my pile grows higher, but I like it! :P

Caite - Oh yes! My bookshelves are already full so I've to keep all the remaining stacks on the floor, LOL.

    Alice - You're most welcome, Alice! :)

Reading is always a pleasure to me! It'd be so sad if I find them a pressure, LOL.

    Beth - Thank you!

Nymeth - Thanks, and you're most welcome! :D

LibraryThing is a great site to keep a record of the books we own, isn't it?

Dar - That's what I feel about my TBR pile - overwhelmed! LOL. But hey, I'm not complaining! ;) It's better to have too many books than having not a single book to read after all. :)

Matt - Oh, I'll definitely feel anxious if I've nothing to read! LOL. But with the number of books I'm having now, it'd keep me very busy for a few years' time! ;)

Iliana - Whenever people come to my house, they always have two expressions when they see my TBR pile: either they're shocked or awed, LOL! And I'm always embarrassed by both accounts! :P

  16. Nise' Says:

My physical TBR pile is countable its my WTR list that is anything but!

  17. Melody Says:

Nise' - Sometimes, it's scary to look at our TBR pile, isn't it?! ;P

  18. Melody - Thank you so much. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you and your kindness/friendship. I know I've been absent lately, it seems even from my own blog (except those Sunday posts), but I really do appreciate your thoughtfulness.

  19. Melody Says:

    Trish - You're most welcome, Trish! I appreciate your kindness/friendship too! :)

  20. The Bookworm Says:
