Do you have “issues” with too much profanity or overly explicit (ahem) “romantic” scenes in books? Or do you take them in stride? Have issues like these ever caused you to close a book? Or do you go looking for more exactly like them? (grin)

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

Well, I suppose I can read anything and definitely have no issue with it, but of course there is a limit to it (i.e. if the book focus mainly on sex and not much story plot). Being a reader of the romance genre, I can fully understand the sexy scenes in the books because we get to see the passionate side of the couple being in love. So far, I'm quite comfortable with the scenes unless you are talking about erotica, which is another different matter.

I agree. I don't like stories that focus just on sex with no plot.

  2. I have read a werewolf story with nothing but sex. It put me off completely from that genre!

    Happy BTT!

I love romance novels, they are like my candy. But some of the sex recently-- gaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh, nasty. Seriously nasty. The upside, wait, there is no upside. By nasty, I mean out and out "his giant meaty shaft quivered inside her gaping maw" kind of stuff...

Agree with you on this, about the plot. I need both to give me satisfied of the bookk as whole.

Thanks for visiting my blog, Melody..as always :)

  5. I definitely want to have plot in there, too; thus I don't mind a good erotic romance, but straight erotica doesn't usually do it for me.

  6. Kat Says:

Good one. Agree with you on most points there. The plot's the main attraction really.

  7. Yep.. gotta have the plot. Otherwise, what's the point?

    Happy BTT!

Most of the answers I'm reading are focusing on the writing. Which just goes to show what great readers we are!

  10. Debi Says:

I'm in agreement, too. I can handle just about anything, as long as it's important to the story.

  11. Anonymous Says:

I agree. It has to be important to the plot. Happy BTT!

I agree! There's a fine line between erotically romantic and distasteful, so an author has got to be very careful. And there has got to be a good story surrounding all that sex! Otherwise, what's the difference between that and pornography, right?

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday!

I love romance stories as well. If it enhances or develops the story, not a problem. I do, thought, like the author to leave something to the imagination! Diane
