  1. Okay, love him or loathe him, you’d have to live under a rock not to know that J.K. Rowling’s final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, comes out on Saturday… Are you going to read it?
  2. If so, right away? Or just, you know, eventually, when you get around to it? Are you attending any of the midnight parties?
  3. If you’re not going to read it, why not?
  4. And, for the record… what do you think? Will Harry survive the series? What are you most looking forward to?

Believe it or not, I haven't read the Harry Potter series...yet! (Go ahead, laugh at me if you want. LOL.) Now take a deep breath and hear me explain. When the first book was released, I suppose this will be a book for children/young adults so I didn't pay much attention to it. (And don't get me wrong, although I do enjoy reading YA fictions but at that time, I was more into romances, horrors and thrillers novels.) Now if you ask me, I will tell you how much I regret not reading them earlier!!! However, I had watched the movies and loved all of them!

OK, even though I haven't read the books, but surely I want to see Harry survive the series, after all he is the hero of this series, and in my opinion heroes are supposed to live and have a happy ending! On the other hand, I too don't want to see Hermione or Ron die, and I would love to see them being together.
And before I end my reply to this topic...read this: I'm seriously thinking of getting the whole series next! :P

Aww Melody - we weren't laugh at you. Why would we? I understand what you mean about your reason...I felt the same way at first when Trish want me to read it with her.

Agree that Harry will survive and there be happy ending...with Ron and Hermione together..hehehe

  2. Melody Says:

Hey Julia, I'm glad to hear you felt the same way initially, hehe. But I think it's great that you and Trish made a compromise and you ended up liking the books.

Start counting the hours now...and happy reading! :D

  3. Kat Says:

Haha. I'm pretty big on YA fiction, so I gave HP a chance. I think I would be pretty much in the same boat as you had I not been bored one vacation about eight years ago. Harry Potter was the only book around and I started reading it when my cousin wasn't. We ended up reading it all at the same time, but I managed to get it for myself because I was the fastest reader ehehe.

  4. Julia Says:

Melody - am already counting down the hours hehehe. I wonder what vacation did Kat go to that was boring *grin*...

  5. Mailyn Says:

Wait, you don't have the series? I'm getting the special UK adult edition boxed set! :-)

  6. Alice Says:

I read up to Book 4 and left it at that. I might just continue on... I'm contemplating getting the whole set too and perhaps another marathon reading session...

I've watched HP movies up to Book 2 only. Will try harder. LOL.

  7. Anonymous Says:

I didn't start reading them until book 4 was out in paperback. I was avoiding them as they were so hyped up. Now though I can't wait to see how it all ends so will go to the midnight opening to pick up my copy. Give them a read at some point, they fill in a lot of the gaps the films left out.

  8. Stephanie Says:

I didn't start reading them till the movies came out. I don't know why. Just didn't really have that pull for me. Now, I can hardly wait to see what will happen!

  9. Debi Says:

You're not alone. I've only read the first two. I read them back when I was EXTREMELY sick during pregnancy with my older son. And as much as I liked them, they were just connected in my mind with that time, so I couldn't even consider reading the rest. But several months ago I figured I was ready...so I reread the first and really do plan to reread the second and then get on with rest as well. Ahhhh...there's just sooooo many books out there to be read! What exactly are us book lovers to do?!!

  10. Oh yeah, I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who hasn't read these yet! And willing to admit that to all of the bookworms out there :)

Great answers, I'm with you, gotta have a happy ending!

    Happy Reading!

  11. Daphne Says:

I haven't read them yet either. Maybe one day...

  12. katherine. Says:

yes...I'll read it...but probably the second week its out. Otherwise I have to have my very own copy. One year HP4 I think...we ended up with three copies cause everyone wanted it NOW)

I have kids 25, 19 and 17ish. The two oldest are girls and are avid HP fans...the boy took a while...but he was younger when they started. THe oldest (grown up on her own in the big city) spent the last couple months rereading the entire series.

I only started reading them when the 19 year old came to me the second year and begged to go to the midnight event at the local bookstore...and then stayed up all night reading it.

  13. teabird Says:

You are in for a treat!

  14. Holly Says:

You really do need to get/read the entire series. So they're great. And you miss so much in the movies.

Honestly, I didn't think I'd ever read them. Now I'm a major fangirl. LOL

We're getting ready to put ours up (just waiting on Rowena, the slowpoke..haha)

  15. Mei Says:

I kept seeing the book at the bookstore and I was sure I'd read it before; I think I got it mixed up with Bunnicula, although I don't know what on EARTH I was thinking.
The movies are great, but you'll love the books!

  16. Chris Says:

I haven't read them either. (The villagers are at the gate as we speak!)

  17. Framed Says:

Hopefully, my book will be in my mailbox on Saturday, but I have another book to finish before I can read it.

I'm trying to decide who will die. Perhaps Professor McGanagall. I could live with that. Just not Harry!

  18. pussreboots Says:

I gave up half way through book #5. I don't really care how it turns out but I'm sure my husband will tell all after he reads the book.

  19. Melody Says:

Hi Kat, isn't it great when you discover a book by chance and ended up liking them along the way? :P

Hey Julia, I'm sure all the HP fans are making their countdowns now, hehe.

Hi Mailyn, I intend to get it...soon, hehe. Your edition box set sounds very, very tempting to me! ;)

Hey Alice, indeed we all have a lot of catching up to do, me especially with the books, hehe. Gosh, more books to read!!! ;P

Hi Rhinoa, I agree the book version is always better than the movie version...I'll definitely check out the books. Oh, there goes my poor wallet. LOL.

Hi Stephanie, like you I was hooked to the movies, now it seems I've to get the books as well. :D

Hi Debi, it seems like a lot of readers out there read this series by chance and ended up liking them. I can't imagine about my TBR pile... LOL!

Hi Stacy & Daphne, glad to hear I'm not alone, hehe.

Hi Katherine, I'm awed by the enthusiasm in the family! LOL. It's always great to hear family members read with you because I am the only one who read at home. Hubby doesn't read (unless they are computer books) and our daughter is only 3-yr-old. :P

    Hi teabird, I can't wait. :)

Hi Holly, thanks for stopping by! I'm sure I missed a lot from the movies, can't wait to read you ladies' reviews. :)

Hi Mei, I agree we can get confused easily because there are so many books out there! LOL. Yes, I really enjoyed the movies, and I'm looking forward to reading the books soon.

Hi Chris, I bet all the readers are waiting anxiously for this moment. LOL.

Hi Framed, it's good to pre-order and deliver to your house to avoid all the hassle out there, but then again I also think it's pretty exciting to queue with the readers just for the fun of it! :P And I definitely want to see Harry survive the series!!!

Hi Pussreboots, thanks for stopping by! I've heard some readers said that #5 is their least favourite book, though I don't know why and am curious to find out myself. ;)

Although I'm not considered a fan...yet, but still I'm sad that the latest copy will be the last book.

    Happy reading, everyone!

  20. Anonymous Says:

I haven't read them either, but might once the hype is over a bit.

  21. Melody Says:

Hi Kristy, we're on the same boat, hehe. But still I'm curious to know the ending! :P

  22. I came into the series late. My cousin actually loaned me the first three books and I returned them to her unread, not really thinking I'd be interested. It was some time after that, when I found a copy of the first book in mass market paperback format, and decided to give it a try. I was hooked every since!

The series isn't for everyone, but it's worth a try if it's something you think you might like. :-)

  23. Melody Says:

Hi Wendy, glad to hear you gave it a try and ended up liking the series! :)

Happy reading and have a great weekend! I can't wait to hear everyone's view next week! :P

  24. CeeCee Says:

I might get the whole boxed series as well. Someone should host a challenge.
