Musing Mondays

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is a short meme:

  • WHAT ARE YOU READING RIGHT NOW?
  • WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING, and WHAT DID YOU THINK OF IT?
  • WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU WILL READ NEXT?
  • WILL YOU READ ANY HOLIDAY-THEMED BOOKS SOON?

I have just finished reading The Society of S by Susan Hubbard a while ago before writing this post. It is a coming-of-age story of a young girl in search of her missing mother. It is also a vampire story, but yet this is different from the others I read because of the writing style, the gothic feel and there are lots of intrigue and guessing in this story. I will try to post my review on it soon.

For my next reading, I choose Christmas Jars by Jason F. Wright since it has been sitting on my pile for some time, and moreover I am currently in a mood for holiday-themed books.

What about you?

The society of S sounds quite gothic. Have you read The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova? I think that's a great take on the classic vampire story.

Hummm, I'll have to add Society of S to my list. I like vampire books.

And I second The Historian. I really loved it.

The Society of S sounds interesting as a coming-of-age vampire story, and I didn't know The Historian was a vampire story too... I should bump it up my TBR list.

  4. Kathleen Says:

    I'm not into vampire stories.

  5. Christmas Jar seems interesting...

    Read mine here!

Can't wait to read your review of Society of S. I really liked that book and just haven't gotten around to the second one. Right now, I'm about 10 pages from being done with The Maltese Falcon!

Are you enjoying Christmas Jars so far? I'm currently reading TRIBUTE by Nora Roberts (joint-reading with Alice). When it come close to Christmas holiday, I might read David Baldacci's THE CHRISTMAS TRAIN. I had this in my TBR pile for 2 or 3 years now.

  12. The Soceity of S certainly sounds interesting. And I'll have to second (or is that third) Kostova's The Historian - it was an excellent read.
