Today’s question comes from Conspiracy-Girl:
I’m still relatively new to this meme so I’m not sure if this has been asked yet, but I’m curious how many of us write notes in our books. Are you a Footprint Leaver or a Preservationist?

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

Ah, this week's topic is easy to me. During my school days, I always scribble notes on my textbooks for easy reference (in pencil so that it's easy to erase if there's any errors), because I hate to write it on loose sheets and then fearing of losing them later.

As for novels, I hate to leave any marks on them. I don't even dog-ear the pages (I use bookmarks), so scribbling is definitely out of the question. The same applies to used books.

Same here!!! I freak if I see any creases on my books. And I hate dog-eared pages. I can't help but worry over them eventhough I've already read past the page.

I scribble notes on my textbooks, too so it's easy to study.

    Happy BTT!

I hate to write on my novel books...enough said hehehe

    Happy BTT

  3. We all seem to have same set of rules about text books and paperbacks.

    Like-minded?

    :D

  4. Textbooks got me into the underlining habit for a while (although only with non-fiction books). I recovered. :)

  5. Alice Says:

I write notes on the margins, underline and highlight text, and do all sorts of other markings on me books. Only non-fiction though. For some funny reason...

Paperbacks are safe from such tortures. ;)

I had a nice collection of erasable coloured pencils for textbooks - very good for note-taking. I used to put the year I got them on the flyleaf of novels but I haven't done that for years.

  7. I feel pretty much the same as you. I do write in many non-fiction books... notes to help me remember pertinent information. But fiction?? NO. Never.

    Happy BTT!

  8. So often my school texts were already written in because I bought them used, and so my added marks meant so little. :-)

  9. Jane Says:

I am taking a class right now and can't even highlight in my textbook!

  10. Interesting answer, I don't remember writing in my textbooks. I definitely don't write in any of my novels.

Have a great day and Happy Reading!!!

  11. Holly Says:

I don't write in mine, either. That just seems wrong. :)

I so agree! No writing in novels! I can't even bring myself to crease a corner--- I use a bookmark always! I find myself smoothing out the corners that have been turned if the book is used or from the library. Diane

I really hate dog-eared pages. I improvise all kinds of odd things for book marks but never turn down the page.

I write in my books, but dog-eared pages make me break out in hives.

    Happy BTT!

I am guilty of sometimes dog earing pages. Happy BTT.

Hi Den! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who did that, hehe.

Hey Julia! Yeah, I hear you. LOL.

Hi Gautami! Yes, I can see there are a lot of us here who thinks the same.

Hi Heather! Ah...yes, I think I did that (as well as highlighting) on my school textbooks too. Hehe.

Hey Alice! I think I'm more lenient when it comes to school textbooks, but unlike so to novels. ;)

Hi Geraniumcat! Ooh..you even have erasable coloured pencils! Mine is so boring because I only use pencils and/or yellow highlighters.

Hi Marianne! I can see a lot of us think alike. :)

Hey Wendy! I totally understand about used textbooks, not that we can help it though. :D

Hi Jaimie! I don't mind highlighters, as long as I didn't highlight the whole page! LOL.

Hi Chris! Thanks for stopping by. :)

Hi Stacy! Wow, you must be a great booklover! ;)

Hi Holly! I think so in novels, but as for school textbooks, I think that's excusable IMO, LOL.

Hi Diane! I will do the same too!

Hi Donna! I love bookmarks. I have been collecting them since I was in primary school. :D

Hi Writing and Living! I guess some of us have issues when it comes to dog-eared pages, hehe.

Hi Pussreboots! No prob, to each his own. :)

I hate writing in books and turning down the pages, it's just wrong to me somehow! I re-read Alice in Wonderland and I found I had written in that during uni and I think it's my only book with pencil markings in it!

Hi Rhinoa! I'm like you, I don't like scribblings on my paperbacks, unless they are dedications from friends/families as a gift. :)
