Since “Inspiration” is (or should) the theme this week … what is your reading inspired by?

What inspired my reading? Well, there are way too many things that inspired my reading. For starter, I am just fascinated by the simple joy of reading. Reading entitles me to break away from reality for a while and allow me to immerse into the fascinating worlds which the authors created. They can be imaginations or true experiences from the authors; either way there are always something I can learn from them.

I am also inspired by my fellow bookbloggers. They always have great recommendations and even though I do not lack of books with my huge TBR pile, most of the times I am swayed by their recommendations because they give me the opportunity to explore the authors who are new to me, and not to mention books that interest me but I just missed reading them.

And then of course, my reading is inspired by my moods. I can never tell which book I will be reading next. I may have decided on a book to read prior to my current reading, but sometimes I do not stick to it as some other factors may have influenced my choice of reading (e.g. good reviews or ravings from fellow bookbloggers, my favourite authors' books have released, reading challenges and so forth).

So what is your reading inspired by?

Ah..mood, bloggers and a love for reading. Exactly the ones that inspire me too :)

Know what? Now I'm thinking of becoming a real bookblogger :) Happy BTT!

  3. Debi Says:

Book bloggers certainly are an inspiring lot! On the good side, they've inspired me to expand my reading horizons in ways I never would have imagined. On the bad, they've inspired me to spend an awful lot money. ;)

Oooh... once again, we share similar answer and I believe the same goes to lots of other book bloggers too. :D

Interesting answer. Writing about reading--as in BTT--inspires me.

  6. Mood is a big factor in my reading as well, but I've also been inspired by others' reviews. Seems like I'm always adding something to the ever growing wishlist!

  7. Yvonne Says:

Mood and breaking away from reality are my main reasons, too. Also reading other book bloggers recommendations.

    Happy Thursday!

I'm not sure I can come up with anything different than has already been listed! Book bloggers, friends, book reviews in Entertainment Weekly, mood, the yearning to learn something new...this is the reason my TBR stack is a mile high!

  9. Beth F Says:

    I too am mood-driven!

    Hi,

I have reading moods too. This is why I'm not good with rigid book lists for my challenges. I'm always changing them!

Great answers. I also have reading moods. Happy BTT!

HA! You and I are inspiration twins. I said the exact same things. :-)

  13. Darlene Says:

Melody, we have a few of the same thoughts on this subject. Moods inspiring my reading though I didn't even think of but you're absolutely right. They definitely to. Great post.

  14. Anonymous Says:

Great answer. I read for those reasons and more.

  15. zetor Says:

To escape from the 'hum-drum' of life and be transported to another era, that's what I like.

  16. I agree all those thing inspire me as well. :-)

  17. Great answer, Melody! I am inspired by those things as well. Books themselves are inspirations--I read one book, I want to read more. And then of course all the great recommendations from friends like you--who can resist? As you said, mood also plays a part.

  18. Anonymous Says:

A good book will helps, but there is my craving and mood.

Reading choices are always like double-edged sword. I want to be part of others' reading context but my whim sometimes just won't allow it.

In short, what inspires me is my own volition and whim.

  19. Ana S. Says:

This is a hard question for me to answer, because so many things do! Other books, bloggers (of course), the time of year, my mood...

  20. Anonymous Says:

I find that sometimes I am not even conscious of what prompted my move from the final pages of one book to the first pages of another. Whim is perhaps the best way of saying this as mentioned by others, but intuition might be another way of looking at it. My more conscious effort goes into the book as I read it not in the choice to pick it up.

  21. Kat Says:

Indeed. The simple act of reading is an inspiration in itself :D

  22. The Bookworm Says:

my mood and blogging both inspire my reading.

    Hi, Melody -

I'm inspired by reviews and recommendations from my friends, from book bloggers, reviews I read in newspapers and magazines. I also love to know Oprah's picks, Today Show picks, etc.

Then, when it comes down to pulling a book off my shelf, it totally depends on my mood.

  24. Pamela Says:

Great post! It seems that mood is a big factor for most of us when choosing a book to read.

I just joined BTT today and my first post is at http://touchinspiration.blogspot.com.
