I loved The Kite Runner too. The Mango Season sounds good,I enjoyed The Thirteenth Tale, and I intend to read the two Tana French books this year. I'm enjoying the responses to this question. Happy reading in 2009.
I loved the Kite Runner and No Time for Goodbye too! I have not heard of the Neil Gaiman book but it is on quite a few people's lists so I shall have to investigate! Happy New Year!
Thirteenth Tale is on my list today too!
I know I have to get to Shannon Hale. I'm determined to read one of her books in 2009.
I loved Kite Runner too, it's one of my all time fav's, but I read it in 2007 if in case you noticed it's not in my list.
'Out' sounds good. I can't help but notice that you have reviewed all the books. I am going to try and do that this year too.
I really want to read Neil Gaimans newest book. I've heard its really good. Great list. Hope you have a great day.
I loved The Thirteenth Tale - it just missed out being on my top ten fiction list. And I must get hold of something by Shannon Hale soon.
I've not read any of these. It's interesting to see the variety on everyone's lists!
The Likeness is on its way to me!

I wanted to list The Kite Runner but I read it in 2007 so it's not 'fair' to list it in 2008. LOL.
Great list, Melody!
I wanted to read the Kite Runner but I am not sure I'd be able to get into it. Great list of books :)

Loved the Kite Runner and his new book "A Thousand Splendid Suns" although I found the second story unrelentingly sad.
Thirteenth Tale is also fantastic.
Other books I enjoyed this year:
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle
This House of Sky
The Egg and I
The Highest Tide
Man, I've only read three of those...but have quite a few on my wish list (because of you!).
I actually haven't looked over the list of what I've read, but off the top of my head, I'd probably have to say my favorites were:
Looking for Alaska
Ender's Game
The Graveyard Book
The Goose Girl
Life Artist
great list Melody :) I have some of these in my TBR. And I'll be reading Blind Submission since you raved about it ;)

"Tractors" will make you laugh and sob at the same time. It captures the psyche of a family tries to stick together in bizarre circumstances.
We shared some of the same favorites for mysteries! Always love seeing everyone's favorites and of course adding more books to my TBR list - Mo Hayder is one author I'll be looking for!
I didn't read Kite Runner or Thirteenth Tale last year, but they were the top of my list in the years I did read them. Glad to see Book of Lost Things on your top for fantasy! I just picked that one up at the store and am really looking forward to getting to it.
