Musing Mondays

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about tbr books.

Where do you keep the books on the top of the tbr pile? Not the bunk of the mountain, but just the tip of the peak – the ‘almost up to’ books?

I wish I have enough space and bookshelves so I can put all my TBR books neatly without spending some time and efforts to rummage through the piles (which they are stacked haphazardly against the walls in our storeroom). All my latest acquisitions are always placed on the top of these piles. Since I am a moody reader, most of the times the books I choose to read are on the spur of the moment thing, thus there is no point for me to think of what book(s) to read next (unless I have made plans to do a buddy-read with bloggy friends or a review copy I have to post at a specific time).

What about you?

Mailbox Monday is hosted by Marcia from The Printed Page where readers are to share the books that came into their house last week.

These are what I received last week (bought from The Book Depository) :

1) The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson

2) The Line by Teri Hall

3) Ella Minnow Pea: A Novel in Letters by Mark Dunn (have to get it after reading Ana's lovely review!)

4) The Clouds Roll Away by Sibella Giorello (review copy)

What books came into your house last week?

it seems many of us are swayed in our TBR picks but a whim of the moment..

I keep the books I need/want to read soon in the bedroom away from my other books.

Enjoy your books. I have three this week. One's an ARC and the other two were purchases for my kids. You can see the list here.

  7. Violet Says:

I'm an impulsive reader too, I might keep aside 5 books that I would want to read next but I might end up reading a completely different book.

  8. Alice Says:

    I echo Violet

  9. Veens Says:

Me too.. I decide at the spur of the moment... what i feel like reading!
So there is no point in having them at a particular place! sometimes i even abandon and put them back :)

You have a WONDERFUL mailbox Melody...
    Have a great week ahead!

  10. Another whim reader here (unless I have a commitment to keep).

The Clouds Roll In sounds promising.

    Enjoy your books!

  11. Alayne Says:

Ooh I think The Line looks so good! Happy reading. My mailbox is at The Crowded Leaf.

  12. Kaye Says:

Yeah, I've got books in stacks too no matter how quickly I give away the ones I've read. The piles just don't seem to go down.

The Clouds Roll Away sounds real good. Have a great week and happy reading!

I, too, am a on-a-whim reader...whatever strikes me from time to time.

  14. I never seem to make any dents in my tbr pile. The books come in as fast as I read them. Ella Minnow Pea has caught my eye. Enjoy all your new reads!

You've got a lot of great looking books in your mailbox this week! I see you are also in the POC Challenge. I'm looking forward to see what you'll be reading. :)

    Here's mine for this week.

  16. Lori Says:

Nicee seletion of books. I hope that you will enjoy them. I don't have a TBR pile. Here's my Monday Musing and In My Mailbox.

  17. Darlene Says:

Looks like you got some good books Melody. Enjoy them! My tbr piles are leaning in very bad ways right now. lol. I keep putting the latest received ones on the top but then the ones I should have reviewed before are being buried. Not a very good system to say the least.

Looks like a lot of us are mood readers. I'm glad it's not just me that has this problem! Here's mine.

  19. Ana S. Says:

yay, Ella Minnow Pea :D Can't wait to hear what you think.

  20. Debi Says:

I love that you're such a spur-of-the-moment reader, Melody! I wish I was more like that. Somehow I always feel like there's something I *must* read next for one reason or another.

I just got Ella Minnow Pea thanks to Ana, too. :D

And I'd never heard of The Line, but I just followed your link to check it out...sounds good! I wouldn't be surprised to see that one making its way to my house soon, too.

  21. Irene Says:

Glad to hear we are mood readers, it's good to have moods. I love how you store your books, it's a personal choice that works for everyone differently.

  22. Matt Says:

I'm trying to put them at the bottom of the bookcases if there's room. *sigh* I might need e-readers for books that I don't want to own hard copies.

  23. Melody Says:

Thanks, everyone, for your comments! I can't wait to read these books! Happy reading! :)

  24. Julia Says:

Great list of books in your Monday Mailbox. I hope you enjoy reading each books as much when you got it :) As for Musing Monday question, well I kept those books that I'm gonna read next on top of my TBR pile. I used to take the next 3 books that I'm gonna read next from TBR pile on my night stand..but my moods always change and I end up not reading the books I picked out to read next on my night stand. So I had to change the books.

  25. Anna Says:

There really is no rhyme or reason to my book organization, though I do keep review copies separate from my other books and books that haven't been read separate from those that have.

Looks like you got some good books. Enjoy!
