Here are some of the books which I bought lately:
- The City of Dreaming Books by Walter Moers
- Homecoming by Bernhard Schlink
- The Seamstress by Frances de Pontes Peebles
- Out by Natsuo Kirino
- Grotesque by Natsuo Kirino
- The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
The authors of the first three books are new to me; I am quite intrigued by their blurbs (and not to mention they have wonderful covers!) so I just have to pick them up.
Natsuo Kirino is not a new name to me, but I have read so many good reviews about her book, Out that I have to add it to my pile. I also added her other book, Grotesque to the pile because it seems like another winner to me.
I did not expect to find Neil Gaiman's latest release, The Graveyard Book under the new releases section, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to grab hold of a copy. It is a UK version so the cover differs from the US but honestly, I do not really care as long as I am able to get hold of his books quickly.
So did you buy any books lately? Do share them with me.
Oh, I would love to find The Graveyard Book on sale early. I think I actually favor the UK cover.
The Seamstress is on my list, too.
Didn't Bernhard Schlink write The Reader. I loved that one.
Hi Melody! Great books you have there. Happy reading!
I don't think the bookstores here are selling the new Neil Gaiman book yet... I have it on my wish list though. Same for Out. :D
You have it already!! Lucky, lucky, lucky! It's particularly amazing that it's the UK edition, because that one won't be released until the end of October. Happy reading!
Oh, I'm absolutely drooling here, Melody! What a pile of goodies! I have both Out and Grotesque on my TBR piles, but haven't actually read anything by Kirino yet. I'm really looking forward to both of them!
When my friends get in town -- later today we are so going book shopping :)
I hope you'll like Out. I haven't reviewed it yet but it was fabulous. I know it's touted as a crime story but I think it's one of those that can easily crossover the genre lines. I want to read Grotesque. And, I think I have all of your books listed here on my wish list too :)
I'll be interested in hearing what you think of Homecoming. I recently picked it up at a booksale as well despite feeling "eh" about The Reader. I've heard great things about Out lately--hope you enjoy all these!
Moers is brilliant!
Oh my, my, my! Great covers!!
I hope you enjoy OUT as much as I did, Melody. I have Grotesque waiting in the wings to be read too. I saw another book by Kirino in the store today, but I held back from buying it even thought I really wanted to.
Enjoy your new books!
I read The Reader by Bernard Schlink so long ago I barely remember it, but I think I liked it.
I loved Out and I have Grotesque on my pile to read in October.
Ruth - I hope you'll find the book soon! :) I quite like the UK cover too.
Shana - I haven't read anything by Bernhard Schlink yet; and I'll have to check out his other books. Thanks for sharing. :)
Alice - I'm hoping you'd get those books very soon! :D
Nymeth - To tell you frankly, I couldn't believe my eyes when I found Neil's books being displayed on the shelves, but of course I've to grab it!! And oh, I didn't know it'd be scheduled in October! I feel so lucky just thinking about it... :)
Debi - I can't wait to read Kirino's books too! I know a lot of readers loved Out!
Iliana - I hope you've bought some books over the weekend! ;) I can't wait to read your review on Out! ;)
Trish - I'm really curious about The Reader so I'll have to look out for this book.
Bookchronicle - I can't wait to read his book!
J Kaye - I love all the covers too! :)
Wendy - Oh, I bought the other book by Kirino over the weekend. I just couldn't resist it! ;)
Tanabata - Thanks for visiting! :) I'm hoping to read Kirino's books soon!
You know me, I'm not familiar with the books you listed *grin*. And even if I know Neil, I just never read his books....
Only books I brought recently was "Temperature's Rising" by Karen Kelly and "Line of Scrimmage" by Marie Force. But I think both are not any interest for you LOL! Enjoy your new books! :)
Julia - Neil Gaiman is a great fantasy author IMO! I'm hoping you'd read his books one day soon! :)
