Booking Through ThursdayCheck Spelling

Suggested by Tammy:

What items have you ever used as a bookmark? What is the most unusual item you’ve ever used or seen used?

Most of the times, I use bookmarks to mark my books. There were a few times I used receipts as bookmarks because I wanted to read the books I bought on my way home. Sometimes, I will also use post-it tags but they are more of a mark for quotes (to be quoted for my reviews) than as a bookmark. I have also used postcards as a bookmark too, but that is because I have extras (they are promotions from the Tourism Board and are free of charge).

What about you? What other items have you used besides bookmarks?

Lately I've been using this beautiful bookmark that looks like an Asian rug. It is beautiful, and has drawn several compliments (thanks again)! I collect them actually, but have been known to use whatever in a pinch.

I am quite boring when it comes to bookmarks, it's normally a bought bookmark or a scrap peice of paper, but I have been reading some great ideas for bookmarks! Great Answer!

anything that stays and doesn't destroy the book is a bookmark!

my recent bookmark was grocery store bill!

  5. I agree with @Veens--anything that won't destroy a book is fair game!

I've used everything from stray receipts, post-it notes, straw wrappers, junk mail... whatever is handy, really.

  6. As long as it marks my page, I can use anything!

Similarly I use a range of objects, preferring bookmarks but using other bits and pieces when they aren't available!

I try to use actual bookmarks most of the time, but often I use whatever is at hand that won't hurt the book.

Hi, everyone! Thanks for your comments. I love reading everyone's answers. Some of you have given me some good ideas what I should use for my future reading. :P

Sandy - I'm so happy to hear you're using that bookmark! Enjoy! :)

I try to use bookmarks too, but will grab whatever is nearby.

  13. I have quite a few bookmarks and do try to use them whenever possible. I sometimes find myself without them though and end up having to use a receipt or scrap of paper. I used a penny the other day because I had nothing else.

    i'm bad, I dog ear :)
but I also use bookmarks or post- its. If the book is for review, I tend to use the letter that came from the publisher or author as a bookmark.

Wendy - I'm very much like you, Wendy. I've not used a penny before though, that's interesting!

    Naida - I don't dog-ear, unless I really can't help it, LOL.

Apart from bookmarks, I use those subscription cards found in foreign mags. Some of them are very pretty and well designed.

    Alice - Ah...that's a good idea too!
