Booking Through ThursdayCheck Spelling

We’ve all seen the lists, we’ve all thought, “I should really read that someday,” but for all of us, there are still books on “The List” that we haven’t actually gotten around to reading. Even though we know they’re fabulous. Even though we know that we’ll like them. Or that we’ll learn from them. Or just that they’re supposed to be worthy. We just … haven’t gotten around to them yet.
What’s the best book that YOU haven’t read yet?

"So many books, so little time!" I am sure all of us booklovers will relate to this, right?

Anyway, here are just a few that comes to mind (which I have in my pile):

I would like to hear about your best book(s).

Great list Melody! I have to say that TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRDwas one of the great book I've read :)

I hope in due times you'll be able to read all the books you listed :) Have a good Thursday!

  2. Robin M Says:

That is a great list. I just read "The Book Thief". Good book. My BTT post is here

You've got to read the book thief Melody. My sister wanted to read a book and she was confused about whether to select a fluffy book or The book thief (my recomendation). I forced her to read the first page, just the first page and decide for herself. She didn't stop until she finished 2 chapters :)

I cried a lot when i read a thousand splendid suns. It's so sad but again too good to miss...

  4. Anonymous Says:

    Aww, you cheated! :-)

The Book Thief is one of my favourite books now and so is The Historian. To Kill a Mockingbird was surprisingly good - something I dreaded for a long, long time.

  5. Anonymous Says:

The Book Tjief is good, but I wasn't too keen on disjointed style of writing - the one or two word sentences etc.

I have A Thousand Splendid Suns waiting to be read - I've heard it's excellent.

  6. Dot Says:

To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the best books I have ever read, it is so well written. I have also read The Historian and I enjoyed it but I have to say that it is one of the few books that has actually caused me to have a nigthmare!

  7. I can actively and heartily recommend "The Book Thief" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns", two very good books. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is good, not great, but I'd still urge you to get around to it. As for the others, my status is even lower than yours - I haven't even heard of them...

  8. Jo Says:

To kill a mockingbird is onmy list too. I've read the Historian though and would reccommend it

  9. joanna Says:

Great, now you made add more books to my list! ;-)
The Book Thief and To Kill a Mockingbird were among my favorites last year, both are fantastic.

  10. Sandy Nawrot Says:

You know, if I had to come up with a list, I wouldn't know where to start. For every book I read, I add ten to my list. Makes me nuts. I have read A Thousand Splended Suns and The Historian, and fell in love with both of them.

  11. Yvonne Says:

I read The Book Thief. It was a good one.

    Happy Thursday!

  12. Unknown Says:

To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the best books I've read. A Thousand Splendid Suns is really poweful.

The Book Thief and The Historian were both really good, but aren't in the same league as the two above.

I haven't heard of the others....more books to add to the pile!

  13. Debi Says:

I've got a few of those on my pile, knowing I just NEED to read them, too. The only one I have read is To Kill a Mockingbird, which of course, is just a wonderful, wonderful book!

  14. Beth F Says:

Lucky you to have such great books ahead of you!

  15. I've got some of those on my list too. I have both The Book Thief and I am the Messenger by Zusack. I'm really interested to see why his books are "adult" in Australia/New Zealand and "YA" in America.

  16. Ana S. Says:

A lot of those are indeed excellent!

I tend to shy away from chunksters, even if I'm sure I'll love them.

  17. Anonymous Says:

I just got to TKAM in the last year or two. It was well worth it.

  18. Darlene Says:

Wow, great list Melody. I have lots that I need to get to someday but the two biggest are War and Peace and The Lord of the Rings. They have been on my shelf for years now. Oh, To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my all time favorite books.

  19. Anonymous Says:

Those are some great books there. To Kill a Mockingbird is one that I keep reading over and over again, I do the same with the film. The Book Thief is wonderful as is A Thousand Splendid Suns (I actually enjoyed this more than the Kite Runner). Enjoy your books.

  20. KyleeJ Says:

Of your list I have read To Kill A Mockingbird and The Wednesday Sisters. Both are fantastic in my opinion.

  21. Nise' Says:

I agree...To Kill A Mockingbird and The Book Thief are excellent reads.

  22. Iliana Says:

We share some favorites - The Book Thief and To Kill a Mockingbird. of course some of these others are on my radar :)

  23. Anonymous Says:

I have the book "The Book Thief, don't know why I have not read it yet.

  24. Anonymous Says:

You have listed some great books here. I hope you have a great day. Happy BTT!

  25. The Book Thief and To Kill A Mockingbird you must put straight to the top of your TBR pile now!

  26. Anonymous Says:

I've got so many but when I reflect upon the type of writing style that appeals me the most, I narrow it down to a short list.

At first I couldn't make of the question because it really depends on what best is. I'm reading a very popular book that I'm probably the last person on earth to read it. Gone with the Wind. :)

I like to read The Book Thief as well since it's been making its way around the world.

  27. JessicaLeigh Says:

To Kill a Mockingbird is a wonderful book! I'm so glad to see it's on your list! You will love it! Put it to the top of your list! :)

    My BTT is here

    Good luck!

Julia - Thanks! I'm hoping to read that book soon! :)

Robin - I've been hearing lots of great things about The Book Thief! Imagine the excitement I missed when it was first released!

Violet - That's great! A page-turner that allows me to get sucked into the story! ;) I'm also looking forward to reading A Thousand Splendid Suns soon, there're so many books to consider! ;)

Mae - Yeah, I did, didn't I? LOL. I just can't possibly list one book, too tough! ;)

Margaret - I can't wait to read these two books!

Dot - Now you've piqued my curiosity on The Historian! ;)

Anonymous Child - I hope you'd check out the rest of my list. :)I've heard lots of good things about them so I think they must be good.

Jo - I'm relieved that I'm not the only one who haven't read To Kill a Mockingbird, hehe.

Joanna - I'm glad you're adding more books to your lists! :D

Sandy - I had a hard time doing this post initially. Where to start? And how about the rest? Even after I had finished posting it, I still felt the urge to add a few more, haha.

Yvonne - I'm glad you enjoyed The Book Thief as well. :)

  29. Melody Says:

Jackie - Seems like I've to put To Kill a Mockingbird and A Thousand Splendid Suns on top of my TBR list! ;)

Debi - We definitely need more time for our reading, don't we? ;)

Beth - The only thing is, I can't decide which to start!

Heather - Really? I didn't know those books are classified under "adults" in Australia/NZ, very interesting! I suppose each bookseller has its own policy/system.

Nymeth - Me too, Nymeth! :P

Barbara - Glad to hear you enjoyed it! :)

Dar - I need to read those two books you listed too, Dar! But they're so thick! LOL.

Aaron - It must be very good if you re-read To Kill a Mockingbird a few times! Now I can't wait to read it!

Kylee - I'm glad you enjoyed those books too! I feel I'm the last person on earth to read them, haha.

Nise' - So many great choices to choose from, now I'm lost! LOL.

Iliana - We've too many books on our radar, hehe. ;P

Social Frog -That's because we've too many choices, hehe.

    Charli - Thanks! I hope you've a great day too! :)

Simon - I will, after reading all the replies! ;)

Matt - You already know that I haven't read GWTW! I'm not sure when I'd read it though, the volume really intimidates me, haha.

    Jessica - Thank you! I will! :)

  30. Unknown Says:

You must read To Kill a Mockingbird, STAT! :)

  31. Melody Says:

    I sure will, Laza! ;)

  32. Alice Says:

Hi Melody, I've loved The Book Thief and To Kill a Mockingbird very much. I hope you'll read them very soon.

As for the others on your list, I have The Black Jewels Trilogy, A Thousand Splendid Suns (also listed for my BTT this week) plus The Historian.

Enjoy them all when you get to them! :D

  33. Melody Says:

Alice - I'm sure I will since I've heard so many great things about them! :)

    Happy reading!

  34. Ladytink_534 Says:

I need to read The Book Thief and to try to read The Historian again. To Kill a Mockingbird is a great story and a quick read too. I believe that I've actually read it twice.

  35. Melody Says:

Jen - Wow, it sure looks like To Kill a Mockingbird is a popular read! Will have to catch up on this one! ;)

  36. Anonymous Says:

    Hi Melody,
I almost finished reading 'The Historian' (my dissertation got in the way of finishing it at the time) and I've got to say that Kostova is a genius in scene-setting. It's not a bad story either, and given a large part of it involves one-on-one professor/student interaction, I'm especially enamoured with 'The Historian', given that I was engaged in a similar practice at the time.
Anyway good luck with this and all titles in your wholly cosmopolitan list
    Warmest
    Rob

  37. The Bookworm Says:

  38. Paula Weston Says:

    Hi Melody,

You have two of my all-time favourite books here (The Book Thief and To Kill A Mockingbird), and I can recommend both as wonderful reads.

I too have A Thousand Splendid Suns on my pile to read. I loved the Kite Runner, but am not sure I'm in the mood yet for Hosseini's second book...

  39. I really hope to get to the Book Thief this year. I had wanted to read it last year, but it wasn't meant to be. The Wednesday Sisters and A Thousand Splendid Suns are also on my list of books to get to this year.

From your list, I have read and loved The Historian, To Kill a Mockingbird (I just know you'll like that one!) and The Black Jewels Trilogy. One of the books I bought recently is the most recent set in Anne Bishop's world. I'd been waiting for it to come out in paperback so I could get a copy.

  40. Melody Says:

Robert - I've heard great things about The Historian so I can't wait to dive into it! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it so much!

Naida - I'm glad to hear you enjoyed reading The Wednesday Sisters! Don't you think it has a gorgeous cover too? :)

Paula - I loved The Kite Runner too! It's so moving! I'm looking forward to watch the film adaptation in DVD.

Wendy - I'm hoping to get to The Book Thief this year too! But then, I guess it has to depend on my reading mood (sometimes I wish I don't have them, LOL).

I think you meant Tangled Webs? I bought it recently but of course I'll have to read the other installments before I can dive into this one! ;)

  41. S. Krishna Says:

I'm with you on The Book Thief - I haven't read that one either, but I'd like to this year!

  42. Melody Says:

Krishna - I've been hearing lots of great things about The Book Thief and I can't wait to dive into it!

  43. The Book Thief really is a great book. I just hope that it hasn't been too worked up for you. That can sometimes be a pitfall for me. I also really liked The Historian and A Thousand Splendid Suns.

  44. Melody Says:

Trish - Yeah, I know what you mean. ;) I'm really looking forward to reading this one, along with the others!
