TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:
- Grab your current read.
- Let the book fall open to a random page.
- Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
- You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
- Please avoid spoilers!
Well, I just got The Piano Teacher by Janice Y.K. Lee yesterday. I was thrilled to see it on shelves because this book has been on my wishlist ever since I have seen it listed on B&N's site.
And here's my teaser for today:
They didn't know each other very well. They had been married barely four months. (Pg 6)
Great Tuesday Teasers, Melody! Sound like this about married life?
Enjoy your reading!
Well, it's about an Englishwoman staying in Hong Kong during the 1950s and she takes a position as a piano teacher in a Chinese family. She soon gets acquainted with Will, the family's chauffeur and then started an affair with him, even though she's married.
Besides this, there're flashbacks of Will's past and also HK's swift fall to the Japanese... I thought it'd be an interesting read!
This is one I'd really like to read too Melody. I'll be watching for your review.
good teaser! I've had this book on my radar too. Hope you are enjoying it and looking forward to your review.
I'm not really interested in reading this book (for a number of reasons), but I like this teaser - ironic, amusing, and intriguing.
pretty book cover and great teaser.

Dar, Iliana - I'm enjoying this book so far! :)
Anonymous Child - I'm enjoying reading about Claire (the main character of this story) so far. I'm quite intrigued with her relationship with the Englishman chauffeur.
Naida - Mine is a different cover though, although I wish I got this edition. Oh well, it's always the content that matters, isn't it? ;P
This sounds good, Melody. And I love the cover!
Me too, Shana! :)
I am expecting this one in the mail sometime soon. I can't wait!
Wendy - I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts if you get to it soon. :)
Thanks, Krishna! :)
This one sounds like an arranged marriage...
Indeed it is, Alice. The heroine isn't too happy with her marriage and that's why she's having an affair with an Englishman chauffeur, whereby both of them are hired by the same Chinese family.
