Booking Through ThursdayCheck Spelling

Suggested by Prairie Progressive:

Do you read the inside flaps that describe a book before or while reading it?

Yes, I am a flapper. I am the kind of reader that read a book from cover to cover. It is even better if there is an introduction page and/or afterwords but I try to avoid reading the introduction page before reading the book because there was a time it spoiled the story for me.

I also love it when there are interviews of the authors at the end of the book. It is great to learn more about the authors and what they have done or feel when writing those stories.

What about you? Are you a flapper?

Meh, too much ADD for me to flap it. Sometimes, if the books is particularly wonderful, I'll read the flap, though, but not until after.

I get to distracted reading it before. Maybe I'm afraid it'll spoil it for me?

I'm not really sure if I got the right meaning of flap.

Please help me out and explain it in my blog...thank you :)

  3. Alice Says:

    Oooh yeah, I'm a flapper. :D

  4. Sandy Nawrot Says:

I am inconsistent with this. So many times the plot has been spoiled by the synopsis, that I have become wary to read them. I guess it just depends on whether I care if the plot is spoiled or not!

  5. Amy Says:

I read them but after I finish the book.

  6. Anonymous Says:

I'm with you about introductions. They usually tell way too much and I read them after too.

  7. Jennifer Says:

I like reading all the things you listed after I have finished a book. My answer: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/01/booking-through-thursday-14-january.html

I read all the extra stuff too.

  9. Alayne Says:

I'm definitely a flapper, I like to know info about the characters before going in to the main story.

  10. Darlene Says:

Yes I'm a flapper as well. I use the flaps a lot when starting the book to help me familiarize myself with the story.

  11. I'm a flapper when there's a flap to flap- but I read a lot of paperbacks so that's often not the case!

  12. Anonymous Says:

    Me too! Keep on flapping!

  13. Jeane Says:

Sometimes I read them first, and sometimes I read them after I'm done, and sometimes I don't read them at all! I guess it just depends on how much I want to know beforehand.

  14. Iliana Says:

I'm with Sandy, I like to read them but lately it seems that I've read too many where big plot points are revealed. That especially bugs me with mystery books! Don't tell me about all the deaths let me be surprised a bit! :)

  15. Ceri Says:

I can't help but read the inside of the flaps. Whether I know what the book's about or not, I need to do it, it's like a compulsion thing. I feel as though I've literally read a book cover to cover when I do that. haha.

  16. Anonymous Says:

I appreciate just the right amount of info for me to decide if the book is for me or not. I always like the biographical information. :)

  17. bermudaonion Says:

I rarely look at the flaps, but I usually know what I'm going to buy before I go in a bookstore.

  18. Anonymous Says:

I'm a total flapper. Not so much a reader of the introductions, though...just give me the story!

  19. Violet Says:

I'm a flapper too :) Like you I avoid the introduction is after reading a few lines, I feel it will spoil the book.

  20. Eva Says:

I like it when there's an interview in the back too! Or for audiobooks, at the end; that's even more fun, because I can hear the author's voice. :)

  22. Julia Says:

Yep I'm a BIG flapper LOL ! Does not matter if it a new books, old books, or "new to me author" books. I read the flap front and back and even dedication pages.

  23. Ana S. Says:

I used to be a flapper, but unbelievably enough I have come across spoilers in flaps :\ So now I save them for last.
