And there of course, I bought books! I have been adding a lot of books to my wishlist after reading all the great reviews (Thank you, my dear blogger friends!), so naturally I have to add them to my TBR pile (Maybe next I need to buy a bookshelf since I have already run out of space and my poor books have to find their place in our storeroom!).
Here is a list of books I bought:
- The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor
- Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer Series #3) by Karen Chance
- Grimspace by Ann Aquirre
- Up Close and Dangerous by Linda Howard
- Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare
- Fire and Ice by Anne Stuart
- The Onion Girl by Charles de Lint
- Princess Academy by Shannon Hale
- Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale
- Enna Burning by Shannon Hale
- Succubus On Top by Richelle Mead
- The Hollow (Sign of Seven Series #2) by Nora Roberts
Edited to Add:
- The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
- The Sanctuary by Raymond Khoury
- Strange Birds by Gene Wolfe, Lisa Snellings-Clark (illustrator)
- Strange Roads by Peter Beagle, Lisa Snellings-Clark (illustrator)
... and finally, a subscription to Romantic Times BOOKreviews magazines which I received my first copy yesterday. I have not browsed all but I had a great time reading a few articles. There is one column that grabbed my attention about whether or not should the authors stop the series, and how long is too long for a series to continue? I find it interesting to read the authors and the readers' point of view. The magazine also features the upcoming releases which I find it informative (so that I won't miss them when they are out!) and a few authors' interviews as well. I am definitely looking forward to reading it when I get home from work today.
So did you buy anything lately? :-)
Ohhhh I love that handmade tote bag. That look nice! I really want one! And it perfect eye glasses pouch too. :)
Nice list of books, I can't wait to read Fire and Ice by Anne Stuarts with you --- let me know when you got it :)
You did know that, Up Close and Dangerous by Linda Howard is not her latest book, right? *grin*. The new one coming soon!
Ahh we all have our vice..mine are books and notebooks! But handmade things are so much nice, especially when they are one of a kind!
I've gone a bit nuts on the online shopping while I've been away, buying books of amazon (something I never do at home..I'm a bookshop snob), clothes from fat face, and some of those gorgeous nicoletta ceccoli postcards! But hey, I get paid today, and as they say..you can't take it with you!
The Looking Glass Wars is one of my all time favourites..I hope you love it as much as I did. And yay for more Shannon Hale! Enjoy your goodies!
I just bought 3 more books today (on accident). I had some time to kill between work and a volleyball game, so I went to a bookstore just to browse. Apparently, I've forgotten how to browse! :) I haven't heard of most of your new books, so I'll be looking forward to your reviews!
Julia - I'm glad that the bag comes with the pouch, and both look so cute and sweet. Sure, I'll let you know once the book has arrived. I'm aware that the book is not the latest by Linda Howard, but that's because I want to get it in paperback instead of HC. ;)
Mariel - I love handmade stuff, and Etsy has became one of my favourite online store to shop. :) I bought The Looking Glass Wars because I heard a lot of raves about it, so I know I can't be wrong. I also can't wait to read Shannon Hale's books!
Laura - Yay for getting more books! ;) For me, I just can't walk out a bookstore without buying one, I know, that's my bad habit, LOL.
First of all that tote is gorgeous!! But I think you will need to get another one to hold all those books!!!
Fantastic list!! I'm looking forward to all your reviews!!
Oh my goodness, Melody, that's quite the little book buying spree! How fun, fun, fun! And will be fun for us too, since we'll get to read all your reviews!
By the way, isn't etsy the coolest place to shop...well, besides the bookstores, that is.
What a great list of books that you got! I can't wait to read your reviews, especially of the Shannon Hale, Charles de Lint and Gene Wolfe books.
And yes, I absolutely agree that the convenience of online shopping can have a terrible effect on one's bank account :P
Maybe the month of April should have come with a warning up front: Book Buying Frenzy. :-)
I came home with quite a few promising books this past weekend thanks to the book festival, but what do I do this week? I go online and order books by some of the authors I heard speak that I couldn't find at the festival, in addition to a few others. I hadn't meant to get so many (I think I forgot how many I was putting in my cart). I am looking forward to their arrival later this week.
So, you can see you are not alone in nearly breaking your bank account with book purchases this month. :-)
I love that tote, by the way!
Stephanie - Oh no, don't remind me about getting another tote for books, although it does sounds tempting though! LOL.
Debi - I know, I just couldn't help buying them, and I've to thank you all for the great reviews that made me bought them, haha! And yes, I'm beginning to get addicted to Etsy. There're so many things to shop over there!!!
Nymeth - I can't wait to read those books! I've heard great things about The Onion Girl and I was sooo glad to find it online!!! I had a hard time looking at the other bookstores; I'm now slowly collecting his other books.
Wendy - I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one!!! I felt so much better after reading your remark, haha. I'm jealous that you get to attend the book festival, it sounds sooo exciting, not to mention having the chance to meet the authors in person! How cool! I'll be looking forward to reading your reviews on the books you bought. :D
I've got a few of those Shannon Hale books on my wishlist and am so jealous! Enjoy your new stash!
Good afternoon, Melody! Sweeeeet lookin' bag! It will suit you well!!
I recently purchased camera attachments (lens & filters) and digital photography magazines! Hahaha! No fiction there! I'll just keep reading your reviews!
Have a great day!
Looks like a great stash! Enjoy!
Exactly my sentiment, Melody! My bank account is so dented, I dare not look at it. I almost give up showcasing my acquisition. Way too obscene. 4 boxes full of books have arrived (the most recent was from Amazon, received on Friday) with 3 more boxes pending arrival - all placed between March and April... Aaaaaaaah!
Enjoy your new books!
PS: I just got back from my church's sports carnival. Totally enjoyed myself. :)
Stephanie - I'm hooked to Shannon Hale's books after reading The Goose Girl! I can't wait to read them soon!!
Kathy - Glad to hear you've bought those photography stuff! You bet I'll be looking forward to viewing more of your pics!!! Keep them coming! ;)
Kristy - I'm excited with the items I bought, although my poor wallet is bleeding, haha.
Alice - Oh my! You're worse than me, LOL. I can't wait to read what you've bought! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed yourself at the carnival. :)
Love the tote! It is so easy to go overboard on online shopping, I have done it myself! You have a great new stash of books there! I will have to look a few of those up and probably add them to my wishlist. It's a sickness!:)
Jaimie, I agree book buying is a sickness, haha. It's one 'bad' habit that's hard to ditch anyway! Let me know if you've bought any of those books. ;)
That tote is darling! I am a bit addicted to totes too :)
I like to take a peek at RT magazine every once in a while. I don't read romances really but they do have reviews on mysteries - can't pass those up!
Enjoy your new books!
Iliana, that's one reason why I subscribed to RT because it has both romances and mysteries reviews! It's like killing two birds with one stone, hehe.
Wow you've got a nice haul there. I've ordered a few books recently, but nothing that exciting. You'll have fun waiting for those packages :-) And a very cute tote bag.
I can't wait to receive them, Kim!!! ;P
Oh yeah... it's one of those chronic sickness or critical illness or whatever you call it. I think I need to go into rehab. SIGH... Might bump into some people here since there are so many book lovers. LOL.
If that's the case, then all of us booklovers need help, LOL.
