Can you believe it’s already Day 4 of BBAW? Where has the time gone? Well hopefully you’ve discovered plenty of new book blogs to clog up your RSS feed readers and introduce you to more marvelous books throughout the year! But let’s talk about that book you know, the one you discovered only because you read about it on a book blog and then you realized you couldn’t live without it! And then you read it and you loved it so hard! Tell us about it and about the blogger (or bloggers!) that introduced the book to you!
I bought a lot of books based on fellow bookbloggers' recommendations. Here is a list I read this year (Please click the book titles for my reviews, and the name of the blogs for fellow bookbloggers' reviews):
- Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto (Iliana of Bookgirl's Nightstand)
- The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett (Nymeth of Things Mean A Lot)
- The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister (Dar of Peeking Between the Pages)
- Sweethearts by Sara Zarr (Nymeth of Things Mean A Lot)
- Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (can't remember who but I remember seeing it on various blogs)
- The Actor and the Housewife by Shannon Hale (Natasha of Maw Books Blog)
- No One You Know by Michelle Richmond (Wendy of Musings of a Bookish Kitty)
- Looking for Alaska by John Green (Nymeth of Things Mean A Lot)
- The Ghost Writer by John Harwood (Wendy of Musings of a Bookish Kitty)
- Ash by Malinda Lo (can't remember who but I remember seeing it on various blogs)
- Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill (can't remember who but I remember seeing it on various blogs)
So these are the books I read and loved so much. I still have a lot of books sitting in my TBR pile recommended by many bookbloggers... I wish I'm able to list them all here!
Nymeth and Wendy always have great reviews and great suggestions. Glad to know I'm not the only one who can't resist!
That Nymeth is one great recommender, isn't she? That is a great list!
wow! Thats a great list.. you have a good memory Melody :) [ That rhymes :P]
Well, All the books I buy are recommendations from someone or the other! How am I supposed to remember that now :)
I have some. I read some. I want the rest!
:D
BBAW: Thanking Feminist Review
oh yea, I covet quite a few of those books, too!
I have ALL these books on my wishlist, honestly all.
I'm going to echo Veens... you have a great memory! I try to remember who recommended a book but am so bad about it. Anyway, there's a lot of books on your list that I want to read :)
LOL--not surprised to see Wendy, Nymeth, and Dar's name on the list! They do bad things to my wishlist, too. :) I just talked about one book in my post, but I definitely added Goodbye Tsugumi to my list because of you!
LOL...it's dangerous to read Nymeth's blog!
Nearly every book I read anymore seems to come on recommendation from someone's blog! Wish you all would start reading some crappy books, so I could get caught up with some of the "own" reading. ;)
The Uncommon reader and The School of Essential Ingredients are two books I have on my tbr/wish list because of other bloggers, but haven't had the chance to grab/borrow a copy yet.
Hi Melody, Ana and Wendy and you are the main "culprits" in this case. I haven't read most of the ones you mentioned but some of them are already in my TBR. :)
Some interesting books..The Ghost Writer sounds pretty good!!
What a great list of books. I lose track sometimes of whose blog recommended which book, but nearly all the books I read these days, I'm reading because of a fellow blogger!
Haha! It's because of Nymeth that I read Sweethearts, too.
The Ghost Writer is really one of the best books I've read this year. And I discovered it here, so thanks:)
I'm glad to have introduced you to those books, Melody! And other bloggers recommended them to me in their turn. We're one big happy bookish family :D
Glad to see that you love these books that you brought base on fellow bookbloggers' recommendations, Melody. I'm sure you have many more recommendation to come :)
My TBR collection definitely has grown because of my fellow book bloggers, one of them being you. :-)
