Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about mid-year reading…
Now that we’ve come to the middle of the year, what do you think of your 2009 reading so far? Read anything interesting that you’d like to share? Any outstanding favourites?
I can't believe half of the year is almost gone! As far as my reading is concerned, I think my last year reading is much better than this year as I read fifty books as compared to 42 at this point of time. Given the rate, I think I would be able to read 80 books by the end of the year, but even though if I don't I wouldn't feel bad either though I have to admit I would be disappointed. Nonetheless, I had read several good ones and I am expecting more great books to come in the near future (One example: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins)!
Here are some of my favourites thus far:
January
- Ritual by Mo Hayder
- Fallen Skies by Philippa Gregory
- Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto
February
- The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne
- The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett
March
- Evermore by Alyson Noel
- The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
April
- Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
- Goodbye Tsugumi by Banana Yoshimoto
- The Lost Hours by Karen White
- Godmother : The Secret Cinderella Story by Carolyn Turgeon
- Sweethearts by Sara Zarr
May
- The Accidental Bestseller by Wendy Wax
- Skin by Mo Hayder
June
- Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
- Wings by Aprilynne Pike
How's your reading so far? And what are your favourites?
That's insane that you can actually list all the books you've read this year!!
Good haul from the looks of it too. I'm hopeless at remembering what books I've read, unless I've reviewed them somewhere.
I've read and enjoyed Kitchen and The Uncommon Reader too. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is on my tbr list, I'm glad you liked it so much.
You're doing very well I think. Happy reading in July and beyond. My MM post is up too.
Great list. I loved Thirteen Reasons Why and The Hunger Games. Glad to see you have on here a few other books in my TBR pile. I also posted my answer here
It is hard to believe we're entering the second half of the year, isn't it? It looks like you've read some great books this year, Melody. Each month, had good ones!
I haven't read nearly as many as you this year, but I have had a few stand outs.
My reading has been great this year too. Last year I read 40 books, this year I've already read 48 books :)
Lets see how it goes from here.
Your list reminds me that I still have to read Evermore.
I just finished Thirteen Reasons Why this week - I loved it, too
Wow, April was a quality month! And I hope the second half of the year is even better for you!
It's very hard to believe we're already halfway through 2009. Sounds like it's been great reading for you so far.
I'm amazed by how many of your favourites I love too! I'm going to have to find copies of the few on your list which I haven't already read/got in my TBR pile!
I look forward to finding more great books in the second half of the year!
You've got some great books I've been considering reading... I'll have to check around to read your reviews on the blog.
Great list!
Thirteen Reasons Why is on my TBR list and I just begun The Hunger Games. I hope I'll enjoy them as much as you did! :)
I read THE GODMOTHER too. Great list!
I'm still waiting for Kitchen, it's been out on loaned for ages. Bah.
I also liked School of Essential Ingredients.
Great list of your favorite books for this years, so far. I'm sure you able to read more than just 80 books by the end of 2009. No doubt about it :)
Good luck!
You are still doing great Melody. I seem to be reading a bit faster so far this year but who knows how the rest of the year will go... I think the past three years I've read the same amount of books. Weird isn't it? :)
Oh guess what my word verification is: manga! too funny.
I'm at 42 myself, and need to buck up. However, I read about 64 books all-in-all last year, so it's quite good comparatively (that's what I tell myself).
You've read some pretty great books, which I've enjoyed between this year and last, myself. Haven't read a few, but, will check them out.
Thank you.
I love seeing the favorites of other bloggers; it helps me pick my next reads! If you're interested, I put my report here: eclectic / eccentric
Hi Melody, I must read Godmother soon. I have that in my TBR and bought it in Singapore last month. :)
Hi, everyone! I wish I've the time to post a reply to you all one by one, but I've so many things to catch up on! Plus, my mind is groggy now... must be due to the medication I had for my giddiness yesterday.
Anyway, I want to say is, it is great seeing everyone's reading list and guess what, I'm adding a few more books to my wishlist after seeing all your posts!! :P It's a never-ending cycle, isn't it? LOL.
Happy reading to all!
42 books is great! I'm just barely scratching past 30. I haven't been reading as much this year either--wonder what the difference is?
I cant believe the year is half done either. So many books, and so little time :O)

Trish - Quality versus quantity... I'd pick the first any time! :D I suppose my last year is better is because I had more off days?! LOL.
Naida - You said it! :P
