Follow-up to last week’s question:Do you keep all your unread books together, like books in a waiting room? Or are they scattered throughout your shelves, mingling like party-goers waiting for the host to come along?
Let's put it this way, I categorize all my books into two sections - read and unread. I used to keep all my read books into boxes, but I have ran out of space for them so I am currently stacking them beside my unread books at one corner in our storage room since all the bookshelves where I keep my unread books are full!
I have no idea how many unread books I have (I'm too scared to count them), but I know I just cannot resist adding new books to the ever-growing pile!
What about you? How do you keep your unread books, and how many unread books do you have?
LOL! I have the same fear of counting the TBRs and yet I continue to feed it.
:)
Same here! keep on adding!
Mine
I'm the same, nice to have them all in one place but best not to count!

I can't resist adding books either. LibraryThing tells me I have 285 (or is it 275?) - too many!
Mae - I'm sure most of us feel that same way! :P
Veens - It sure is fun seeing our ever-growing pile, isn't it? :D
Dot - Yes, I agree it's best not to count, hehe.
Margaret - It's good to have LibraryThing to keep track of your unread books. I use that to list my latest requisitions, haha.
I never count my books. I don't think I have the time.
Scatter Books
I can't resist buying books either, Melody. I find it a comfort to have my TBR pile growing..because if the space was empty my life won't be complete :)
I thought you have bookselves to keep your TBR pile in? I kept mine inside tote bags on the floor of my bedroom :)
Anthony - Me too! :P
Julia - I definitely find comfort in my books! ;) Well, all my bookshelves are filled to the brim, LOL.
Hi Melody, I think boxing up the books is a great idea. I think I should do that as well so that I can free up space for other new books.
Alice - Boxing the books are great, but I need some more space for them as well, LOL.
My space is almost full too. I'm dreading the day I'll have to stack them on the floor or stuff them in drawers :)
I tried so hard not too stack too many unread books so that I can keep them in perfect order.
I love seeing my books lining nicely alongside the same genre
I like to keep my books by authors. So mixed is my thing!
TBR: mixed reactions?
Oh, dear, no counting the TBR pile. That's terribly scary.
The TBR reviews are on a certain shelf so I have them handy.
My own purchases through are scattered within the read ones and the not so read ones. :)
I guess I like to wander through the shelves seeing what catches my eye... I never know who is "next up".
I like it that way.
I don't count my books, but LT keeps track of them for me. I don't keep books I've read unless they were really something special I might read again. I put mine on BookMooch and PBS.
I'm actually rather anal with seperating everything. I get panicked at the thought of my food touching, let alone my books getting mixed up.
I love adding more books. It's way too fun. I don't know how many I have that are unread...I suppose now is a good time to start reading them...yeah..sure :D lol.
Hi, Melody..........answering this made me see how truly anal I am! LOL
PS....you and I have the same blog theme!! =)
I refuse to say how many unread books I have but let's just say I have shelves! :)
And, I so know what you mean, I cannot resist adding new books either!
I try to keep read and unread separate, but I fail at even that low level of organization.
Violet - Stacking books on the floor is good, but it sure is challenging if I want to get the very first copy out of the pile!
Bokunosekai - I think stacking the books accordingly to genres is a great idea, but my TBR pile is too huge and plus I need some time if I decide to do so!
Gautami - If I've my own library, I'd like to stack my books accordingly by author's names in alphabetical orders!
Pam - Yep! The no. of my unread books still remains a mystery to date, LOL.
Sheila - I love glancing at my TBR pile! The hardest part is deciding what to read next!
Koolaidmom - I traded some of mine at BookMooch too, and then it's a never-ending cycle. :P
Okbolover - I think our unread piles can last us for a few years, LOL.
Southpaw - How cool that we've the same theme! :)
Iliana - LOL. I need some more shelves but I've no space for them anymore! *sniff* :P
Beth - I think I've a few of my read books under my unread stacks. It's the space issue!!
I separate mine out too (for the most part). I've run out of room for them all, I'm afraid, but that hasn't stopped me from adding more books. It's not too bad yet. I probably should weed out some of the books I've read but no longer need to keep around.
Wendy - I'd probably weed out some of mine too, but it sure is hard parting some of them away because they're like my babies, LOL.
I worry that keeping them all together might cause regular panic attacks, so no, I don't :P
Unfortunately I do know how many books I have yet to read as I log and tag all my books on librarythign and its nearly 2000!!! Like Nymeth I don't keep them together as that would be too depressing so they are mixed into genres with those I have read.
Nymeth - LOL.
Rhinoa - Wow, that's a lot, Rhinoa!
I keep them all together, which is a bad idea because I constantly forget to read books i've previously purchased. I'm so bad at that! But right now I have a pile going-my actual TBR pile. It's working out nicely.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!!
Lauren - For me, I've a short memory so there are times I bought the same book twice! Urgh!
