Melody
How time flies! Melody's Reading Corner has turned 3 today! Really, where has the time gone?

When I first started this blog, I have no idea what to write except briefly jotting down my thoughts and a summary of the books I read. I took a look at my first post and wanted to cringe at the things I wrote back then; they seemed so simple. And as the time goes by, a few readers posted their comments on my blog and I remember I was so thrilled and excited because I did not expect anyone would want to read my blog, let alone leaving a comment!

As I began to explore around, I realised that there are in fact a lot of booklovers around the world and that a bookblogging community actually existed! So what did I do then? I joined in the fun, of course! I visit more bookblogs, made friends and not to mention adding books to my TBR pile along the way. Before this, I used to read a few certain genres but my reading habits/preference have changed after reading all the great recommendations by fellow bookbloggers! And I love it! Today, I read about anything except genres like sci-fi (unless I have came across a terrific one!), non-fiction, poetry and memoirs.

Anyway, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for reading and leaving your comments on my blog. I really appreciate them all! I want to say I am honoured to know you and I am so happy we are friends, even though if we have not had the chance to meet in person!

Now a little celebration for my blogiversary... you wouldn't think I would end this post simply with my ramblings, would you? For this occasion, I will buy a lucky reader a book of her/his choice. To participate in this draw, simply tell me which is your favourite book so far this year. I will announce the winner on July 10 (Friday). Good luck!

I started reading books by Jodi Picoult this summer, and I have enjoyed The Pact and Second Glance. I always love a good book.

  2. Woohoo! Happy anniversary, Melody! My blog will hit the 3 year mark in another couple of weeks. Hard to believe we've been blogging that long, isn't it?

Let's see . . . My favorite book so far this year. I've read two that really stand out: Michelle Richmonds No One You Know and Carolyn Wall's Sweeping Up Glass. I'm not sure I could pick between the two. They were both so good in their own ways.

Hey my blog aniversary is in June too :) But I don't remember the date and I'm too lazy to do that. I would be completing 3 years too, I think.
It's good to look back and see how it all started, isn't it? My reading has also diversified a lot since I started reading book blogs, you get to know about so many books that you wouldn't have known otherwise.

Happy Blog Anniversary Melody. And here's to another 3 years and more...

My fav book is The Father's Paradise and the Michelle Moran books. They were fun.

Wow! 3 years is a long time! I'm so happy for you!! I've really enjoyed your blog, and it was one of the blogs that inspired me to start my own. :)

What a wonderfully nice way to celebrate! :) I think my favorite book this year so far was Firefly Lane. It really touched me, and it's stuck with me since I finished it. And it was really wonderfully written, as well.

    Congrats, Melody!!

Happy blogging anniversary!! Wow, 3 years is a long time. I can't imagine the blogging world without you, so I'm very glad you started blogging :D

Also, one of these days, Mel, I'm going to send you a copy of Old Man's War by John Scalzi and then watch contentedly as you change your mind about sci-fi :P

My favourite read of the year so far is - surprise :P - Tender Morsels by Margo Lanagan.

Here's to many more years :D

    Happy Anniversary Melody!!!

  11. Sandy Nawrot Says:

Wow! 3 years! That is like 50 years in blogdom. I am not even 1 yet! Way to go girl!

My favorite book so far this year? That's like choosing my favorite child! I suppose this would change if you asked me again tomorrow, but right now it would be The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister. Tomorrow it might be The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

  12. Eva Says:

Happ blogiversary!! :D Picking favourites is so hard. I'm going to go with Mr. Sebastian and the Negro Magician.

  13. Anonymous Says:

Happy Anniversary Melody. Your are one of the first people to visit my blog, so I'll always have warm thoughts of yoy:-)

I think my favorite book so far this year may be the one I'm reading now - The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane.

  14. Happy bloggiversary, Melody! Three years is quite an accomplishment--I heard somewhere that a blog life is around 6 months--we showed them, huh? And no memoirs? You've got to try them--I find that they read a lot like fiction sometimes. The Glass Castle is a really good one.

My favorite book of the year? That's a really tough question! I just finished Maus and absolutely loved it and my favorite discovery is probably Murakami through his Kafka on the Shore.

    "And many mooooore!" :)

  15. Beth F Says:

Happy Blogiversary!!! I love reading your blog. How kind and generous of you to make the offer to buy a reader a book. How can I resist?

As of today, my favorite read of the year is EVERY LAST CUCKOO (because I've just finished it). But last week I would picked among WICKED LOVELY, KILLING TREE, and WINTERGIRLS.

    Happy celebration.

  16. Debi Says:

Happy Blogiversary, Melody!!!!! You know, I truly can't imagine the blogging world without you...I hope it doesn't sound too dorky to say, but I swear, Melody, you are like a perpetual ray of sunshine!

The favorite book question is a tough one! For that sweet feeling of magicalness, I'd choose Castle Waiting...for sheer unputdownableness, I'd choose The Hunger Games, for that feeling of being among friends, I'd choose The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For, for plain old fun, I'd choose Fables. Yeah, that's just too hard to answer. But I've loved reading everyone else's favorites!

  17. Jeane Says:

Happy Blogiversary! Mine's coming up on three soon, too. I think my favorite book this year so far has been Kon Tiki, but it's so hard to choose just one!

  18. Melissa O. Says:

Happy Blogiversary! Wow, three years, that's great! Looking forward to reading you for many more!

Let's see, my favorite book this year is probably The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It was a tough choice, though, as I've read a lot of good books this year!

  19. Jess Says:

Congrats on 3 years -- that is fantastic! My fave book so far? The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz.

  21. Stephanie Says:

Happy Blogversary!! As far as best book read this year, I would be hard pressed to pick just one since I've read several enjoyable novels. Top of the list are The Help, The Magicians (coming out in August) and The Sugar Queen!!

  22. Darlene Says:
